Week 17 Intercambios

Hey everyone! This week was super productive in our area. On Tuesday we had the new missionary meeting for Elder Crane so most of the day was spent traveling to Farragut. That night the ZL's stopped by and we had power ups the next day with Elder Steffensen. I really feel like te Lord sanctifies exchanges with other missionaries and we had so much success! In the space of 4 hours, we found 6 people with return appointments and placed 10 Book of Mormons in the pouring rain, it was the best. We were soaked head to toe i the first 20 minutes but I dont think Ive ever enjoyed tracting as much as that day. On Halloween we visited Charlie with Elder Tupea, our senior missionary in the zone. We love it because he just says things how they are and has no fear talking to people straight up. We also got to teach a guy named Mark and then Salome, Elaine, and Karen (Jamaican ladies here on a work program) and everyone just seems to be progressing very well. Thursday we had companion exchanges with the Asheville Ward elders in our district, so Elder Crane and I went to their area for the day with Elder Holmstead. I got to use my Spanish and talked with 2 families on their porch...my Spanish was rusty but I was able to share the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and get a return appointment. ¡Mucho exito!

This week, I had an incredible experience while we were on exchanges. That night, we had to be back in Asheville Central by 6 to switch companionships again. We thought we could knock a couple doors of this apartment complex before we left, even though it was already 5:30. Elder Holmstead got a call to unlock their ward building for a baptism at 6, which was quite a ways a way, so we had to leave right then to get there in time. As we were getting into the car, I looked up at one of the last buildings in the apartment complex and my eyes locked onto this door. Even though we had to leave, i felt like we needed to knock that door. We walk over there and this lady named April comes out, a little standoff-ish about us (which is normal). I had no idea what I was going to say to her, she didnt want to hear our message at all and was perfectly fine going to her own church. I bore my testimony to her in the most simple and powerful way I think I ever have on my mission so far, and she literally took the Book of Mormon out of my hands. I knew that we were supposed to be there in that exact moment, and that she was ready to receive the message of restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I am so thankful that Heavenly Father loves us so much that he gives us revelation through continuing scripture, to bring to pass his work. I loved reading this scripture this week:

Doctrine and Covenants 20: 8-11, 17

8 And gave him power from on high, by the means which were before prepared, to translate the Book of Mormon;
9 Which contains a record of a fallen people, and the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles and to the Jews also;
10 Which was given by inspiration, and is confirmed to others by the ministering of angels, and is declared unto the world by them—
11 Proving to the world that the holy scriptures are true, and that God does inspire men and call them to his holy work in this age and generation, as well as in generations of old;
17 By these things we know that there is a God in heaven, who is infinite and eternal, from everlasting to everlasting the same unchangeable God, the framer of heaven and earth, and all things which are in them;

I'm grateful that God is unchanging, full of love, and shows His love to us by bringing forth the Book of Mormon.

Love y'all and have a great week! The church is true!

-Elder Jorgensen
