Hope everyone is doing well and surviving the heat! It's continuing to cool off and Fall is here! It rains so much here its not even funny! Guess I'm just not used to it! And the roads here are horrible!! Never seen so many potholes and cracked pavement in my life! Everyone is a bad driver up here too so that's fun. But Michigan is awesome nonetheless!
Just another P-day. Did the laundry, the shopping and the bball. Bball is super fun and I have been playing super well! Not that it matters but hey I like to be competitive! P-day is always a blast!
We taught a solid potential investigator named Arlene (who is now an actual investigator) and after a few minutes her daughter Natalia came out too! They asked tons of questions so we were able to answer them and help them understand different parts of the gospel! Then after we finished her other daughter Linda and her boyfriend Kollin pulled up and we answered some of their questions! They had just watched The Restoration earlier that day! Kollin thought the idea of a prophet on the earth today made complete sense! We set up a time to come back and meet with them and are super excited to teach them! The Lord has blessed us here in Owosso!
After our solid district meeting today about working together with the members, we had trade offs again, and I went to St. Johns again with Elder Freeman! Elder Freeman is from Provo Utah and actually knew an Elder in my district at the MTC. He has been out only 1 transfer, so he is as new as me! But we worked hard that day and got a lot done!
After our studies, I packed up and went back to Owosso. We visited some potentials and did some finding up in Chesaning, a town just north of Owosso. We have been discussing with members that we are pushing for the members help in missionary work. So we have had lots of dinner discussions about that.
We went down to a town about 15 miles southeast of us called Durand and visited some referrals and did some finding. The people of Durand were super mean and none of them wanted to meet with us. Just shows us that we need to work that area more and bring the light of the gospel into that town!
Well Saturday is the day we don't use the car so we walked around Owosso and did a lot of door knocking and street contacting. We talked to a drunk guy in a more ghetto part of town. It was funny because we introduced ourselves "hi I'm Elder Brown!" then he said "hi I'm Felipe." Then when my companion introduced himself he said "hi I'm Tony". Ha ha he gave us two names, but we talked to him a little about what we believed and gave him our number. We picked up some solid potentials that day! We are so excited to start teaching these people!
Today was fast Sunday so we heard a lot of awesome testimonies in church! This ward is so solid! After church we visited a bunch of less actives and set up return appointments with them! Things are going real well here, but even if they weren't, I know this gospel to be true!
Thanks for all the letters and emails I really appreciate the love and support! Congrats to Chandler for heading off to the MTC! Your going to love it! Time is flying here. I'm not sure where its all going. Sometimes I find myself at night staring at my nametag, and think "Am I really good enough for this?" What can I possibly do that could help others here in Michigan? It's been on my mind a lot lately, but I'm coming to realize that the Lord will help my "weak things become strong." I am learning to not boast in MY knowledge and strength, but to boast in the power of God! "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me". I know that it is only through our Savior Jesus Christ that our burdens and hardships can be made light! We can find peace and happiness as we live His teachings and follow Him!
Love you all so much and I'll talk to ya next week!
