Hope everyone is doing well. Sorry I haven't sent an email in literally forever. Everything is still going good here in DeWitt. This is like my 4th transfer here or something.
Our most promising friend is our guy Ethan. He's the best! He keeps commitments and is always wanting to learn more! He's come to church and mutual in person for the past like 6 weeks or so. We have him set for Baptism on July 24 only because his dad wanted him to wait for a couple months to be baptized. Ethan is all set for Baptism though, so we are super happy for him.
Random story though. So a couple weeks ago Elder Randall and I were talking to Sheri and Phil who we had been teaching for a while. Sheri has mega schizophrenia so she's kinda interesting. Anyway we were talking to them and Sheri randomly said "let's pray for America and George Floyd!" And by this time Sheri and Phil were both pretty drunk. But as soon as Sheri said that, Phil said "I'm done" and got up and left the room. He hates it when Sheri gets political lol. So then I'm like uhhhhhh do you want to pray Sheri? And then she said "I'm done too" and got up and left them room also. So they just left us in their own home which is kinda wack. So we just got up to leave. Before we walked out the door Phil came and apologized to us. But then Sheri came around the corner and went absolutely crazy on me. She screamed louder than I have ever heard anyone scream in my life. She said, "YoU didN'T pRay beCaUsE we DrinK!!! Say it Evan! Say it!!" Pretty awesome. So we left.
Anyway, I'm doing good!
Note from Mom:
It's getting hot and sticky but that doesn't stop P-day Pickle Ball and Golf! They have a good time every week.
The Branch had a BBQ this week. Evan said it was good. Ethan came. His Dad wants him to attend other denominations in the area before getting baptized in July so he's been doing that.
The Peoria, Davenport and Cedar Rapids Zones are having a zone conference this week. Elder Valenzuela of the Seventy will be speaking in person. It's nice that they are back to all in person gatherings.
Many of Evan's friends are getting their visas ready for their original assignments. Evan hasn't heard anything about Peru as of yet. Crossing fingers!
This week in their member visits, Evan and Elder Randall have been discussing Helaman 3:29:
"Yea, we see that whosoever will may lay hold upon the word of God, which is quick and powerful, which shall divide asunder all the cunning and the snares and the wiles of the devil, and lead the man of Christ in a strait and narrow course across that everlasting gulf of misery which is prepared to engulf the wicked."
