He and Elder Randall have been meeting with the Sampson family. One of the daughters has met with missionaries in the past but not much has happened since so they are happy to start teaching them. When they teach they have about 9 family members listen to the lessons. Six of them are over the age of eight. There's a lot of great potential there.
They started teaching Ethan, a 16 year old, who is a referral from a girl in the branch. They have met with him twice and has attended church twice and he wants to be baptized. Ethan lives with his dad who is a member but not active in the church and supports him in his decision to be baptized so that is great!
They continue to meet with members on a regular basis. They try to meet their weekly goal of 21 member lessons per week but usually get in 10-14.
I like to ask Evan when he felt the spirit during the week. Expecting to hear about a lesson he taught or a testimony he bore or a scripture he read, he told of a member of the branch they visited who had had a particularly tough day. She expressed to them her gratitude for their visit and how much it meant to her. I thought how often times it's in the simple acts of service where we feel the spirit in the most impressive ways.
