Well, I'm afraid it's come to this...an email from the mom instead of the missionary.
We had a good chat with Evan on Monday and he is doing well. He said it was a slow week but were still able to meet with a few interested people.
They have been helping a lady named Catherine tear out her carpet. She isn't the least bit interested in learning about the gospel but she does appreciate their service. The last time they helped her they were able to get in a brief message about the Plan of Salvation so that's good. Planting some good seeds there.
They're teaching a couple named Sherry and Phil. They are both very receptive to their messages and have many questions. They have been teaching them the Restoration and invited them to watch Sacrament Meeting on zoom. Phil is very impressed and amazed that these young men would leave home and sacrifice their time and money to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Evan gave us a virtual tour of the tiny branch building in DeWitt. It's a miniature version of the buildings we meet in. The chapel has 8 pews from the pulpit to the back - no side benches - with a tiny over flow. Only one unit meets in that building. Evan said they had a great turn out on Sunday. About 40 members. He said they have great members and branch presidency there.
They don't eat with any members but receive regular "member door dash" at the church. Taco soup on Monday night! He says they are eating well...as they are the only Elders in DeWitt. The branch takes good care of them.
They went to Davenport again on pday to meet up with the rest of their district to play pickleball. The temps are warming up and they love getting outside.
Still no word on Lima. They're still having a hard time with covid although the cases seem to be dropping slooooowly. In the meantime, he is waiting patiently and working hard in Iowa.
That's it from Elder Brown/Mom. Thanks for your love and prayers!
