A Week Like Lightning
This week went by really fast. I'm not really sure why, but it did. We had some good times too!
On Tuesday, we spent the day doing normal proselytizing activities (I can't remember) until dinner time. A member took us to a Mexican restaurant. Afterwards, we gave some service!
We found a leak in our car tire last Tuesday. So on Wednesday, we had to go into Firestone in another area to get it repaired. While we were there, we walked around a nearby mall and met a brother of a member there! We ended up talking with him for a while. Afterwards, we headed back to our area and did some service at a food kitchen.
Recently, a member's son who is serving his mission in Spain got in contact with us so that he could give us a referral. It was a friend of his from high school. We met with him Thursday, and he seemed to love it! We will be meeting with him in the future hopefully. Later in the day we planned for the upcoming week.
Friday was fun. In the morning we drove to the North Brookfield elder's apartment and carpooled with them to Gardner and had district council. We had a training on faith, and it was awesome. Afterwards, we drove back and went down to Southbridge to our appointment. When we got there, they weren't home, so we decided to get lunch. There was a place we always wanted to go to but never had the chance until now. It's called the Clam Box. I wanted to try the lobster wrap, but I forgot to ask how much the market was and just asked for it. It ended up being $20! Needless to say, it made a dent in my monthly funds. The sad part was that it made me a bit sick... Oh well. But it was pretty good. I've heard their ice cream is super delicious.
On Saturday, we had big plans that were quickly turned upside down. Our plan was that we were going to go down to a town in our area and bike around while we stopped by members and people who have had interest in hearing the new age of the restored Gospel in the past. After we were about 4 miles into the bike ride, we came upon a hill. Going down, I almost broke my speed record of 37 mph but I forgot to pedal 😕. But while we were going down; Elder Distefano's front tire popped. No injuries. But from that point, we walked. We continued forward to the people's we were going to stop by after we had prayed that something good would come of the new situation. We walked for about 4 hours with our bikes and had a blast. We talked to a man who was working in his yard, and we asked if he needed help. He was stunned... He told us multiple times how odd it was that we asked if we could help him. He said that people just aren't like that anymore. He said he would think it over and give us a call if he wanted our help. I invite you all (I'll try my best as well) to seek for opportunities to serve those around you. To make this world a little better each and every day. As King Benjamin states in the Book of Mormon in Mosiah 2:17 And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.
We had the opportunity to help give the sacrament to someone who were not in good health to make it to church. Afterwards, we studied and headed to dinner. We then went to see one of the people we are teaching, but they didn't answer. We talked with someone on their doorstep, and they invited us in. We told them about the restoration and the Book of Mormon. They didn't seem too interested, but the mother accepted the Book of Mormon and told us she would read it.
The last few days, I have been getting bitten by things and we think it was bed bugs... today we confirmed that.... tune in next week to see what happens next!
