Matthew Thomas

(No Subject)

Hey all! Week one is in the books! After all the craziness leading up to going on a mission it's hard to believe I actually am on one now, and sometimes I still don't feel like it's actually happening, like maybe this is all some crazy dream. I guess 7 hours of zoom everyday for 6 days will do that to you hahaha. I'm definitely looking forward to getting out to Texas and actually being able to teach people (and hopefully I'll have better stories once I'm there too these first emails are probs gonna be kinda boring).

That being said the MTC is still really awesome! There is a really strong Spirit here even through a computer screen.  My district is literally so epic we're from all over the place and a couple are even in Canada which is super cool. We all get along really well and they all have a super good spirit during class they're definitely keeping me on my toes. Also my companion is super cool. His name is Elder Thomas and he's from SLC and we get along really well! He's definitely a good help in role plays and comp study and we actually are teaching two lessons tomorrow to pretend investigators so pray for us cause it's gonna be spooky. He's also going to my same mission! Him and another sister (shoutout to Sister Brady) are both leaving for Dallas with me in two weeks so I'm really excited to go out there with them it'll be good to have some amigos on the flight. We also get to fly out of the brand new SLC airport and I could not be more pumped.

OH also I went to the fair last week with the fam and it was like my first time going out and about with my name tag which was super wacky but also super cool. A bunch of people said hi or were looking at me and waving and stuff and it was definitely different. Also I met my first investigator there (scroll down for a picture ;) ).

Scripture of the Email:

Matthew 26:39"And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt."

Okay so I know this sounds kinda weird like what does this one have to do with anything but as was pointed out to me this week when Christ was in the Garden of Gethsemane atoning for our sins he prayed to God, pleading with him to "let this cup pass from me". God, of course, answers all of our prayers whether that be immediately or later on or line upon line, but doesn't always give us the answers we want. God is all-knowing, and has a perfect knowledge of us and his plan for us. He knows better then we do what we need or don't need, and while sometimes the answer we receive to our prayers isn't the answer we wanted we just have to remain faithful that God knows what's best for us, and in time we will be grateful for the answer or direction we received because we'll realize shoot that was totally what I needed I was super wrong. Had God answered Christ's prayer and said okay you don't have to do this we would not have an Atonement and we would be totally hosed. So just remember that! God knows all!!

So anyways. These are totally crazy times but I know that right now is the time the Lord needs to me to be doing his work!!
