This week was substantially more normal than last week. Jack came to church yesterday for the second time in a row and has established a goal to be baptized on November 9th. We talked with him about each of the baptismal interview questions and are confident that he is ready for this.
We had a fun Friday this week. We basically just stole Elder Bailey for the day. His companion went home on Wednesday so he is in a trio with the Fishers 2nd elders now. We spent the morning having a lesson with Jerimy up in Elder Bailey's area. I used to teach Jerimy when he lived in Keystone, so it was cool to see him again and get Elder Bailey properly introduced and up to speed. Later in the day we had our first and maybe last lesson with a Christian rapper named Gavin Murray. He gave us CDs of his song "I had a talk with him" and then we taught him about the restoration. The lesson went really well, the Spirit was clearly there, and Gavin was agreeing with everything we were saying about revelation, prophets and even Joseph Smith. It was going super well right up till when we said the words "Book of Mormon", at which point he realized to his great surprise that we were Mormons and completely closed off. Elder Bailey said he learned a lot so I'm glad we had him there for that lesson. Right after that we met with Jack and Brother Hartsock and had a good conversation about a bunch of things including the law of chastity. We returned Elder Bailey the next morning.
On Saturday morning before district council we got to watch a broadcast from our area president Elder Bassett as well as Elder Christofferson, and Elder Ballard. The broadcast was for missionaries in the North America Northeast area and they emphasized talking to everyone we can, having love and concern for the people in our areas, and studying and practicing to be able to teach in a simple, powerful and eloquent way. On Sunday afternoon that same group did a broadcast for the general membership in North America Northeast in which they focused on openly including those not of our faith to join us for church events, the importance of the Book of Mormon, and the immense power of prayer in our individual and national lives.
It's been another good week, and I'm looking forward to what's coming next.
