Love God With All Thy Heart

Well, the weeks have just started to fly by in a blur so I am not even sure what to think about this past week. But hey, it's December!... crazy right?
This week, we had two exchanges. It was really weird because out of necessity I was gone both days so from Tuesday to Thursday I was not in my own area. I felt out of the loop the rest of the week haha!
The exchange with Arlington 5th went really well. I was with Elder Parsons and we went tracting for a little bit. I showed him how we can get new investigators and more teaching appointments by teaching something briefly and inviting them to read the pamphlet as well as scheduling a time to come back. We actually were let into someone's home just at random and the man really liked us. He was open to the idea of continuing revelation and additional scripture which was great! I can't wait to hear what happened when they went back last night. It was a good exchange with Elder Parsons and it help both of us out.
The First Presidency Christmas devotional was really great last night! I enjoyed it and I now that the people that were there enjoyed it. There was a woman who was there, not a member of the church, that watches it every year. I think that it pretty cool!
In District Meeting this week, one of the trainings was on grace and how we apply it in our lives. It was awesome!  A little while a ago I studied what our belief on grace was and how it truly works. I love our belief about grace because it is so much more fulfilling and meaningful! If you would like me to share that, let me know it takes forever to explain via email.
I would like to just share a little bit about the love of God. Now, I obviously don't know everything nor do I know things perfectly. I would like to start with a scripture followed by a quote by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf.
Matthew 22:34-38
"But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together. Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment."
So, the first and greatest commandment is to love God with all our heart might mind and strength. Why? God doesn't need our love to exist or feel personal worth. He has countless creations why would He command us to love Him? Because he does not need our love. We need to love Him.
"For what we love determines what we seek. What we seek determines what we think and do. What we think and do determines who we are--and who we will become." ("The Love of God" Oct. 2009 General Conference, Pres. Uchtdorf.)
This is the reason why. We need to love God because the love of good things will lead our to do good things.
Christ taught that "The light of the body is the eye; if, therefore, thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If, therefore, the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!"
What I gather from it is we need to keep our focus on Christ. When we do that and "always remember Him."
We do that by CPR. Always, always, always do the little things.
Keep the Faith and Hurrah for Israel!
Love, your missionary son and brother, Elder Jefferies
