The Pure Love of Christ

You know, I wrote the spiritual message before I realized that

tomorrow is Valentine's Day. Devine intervention! Yep. New week. Went

by super quick. Just don't blink. ;)

Working with members started to pick up a little bit this week. Our

bishopric has approved us working with the Elders Quorum and the High

Priests group to help them with their less actives in a more

structured way. It is a trial run to see how it works so hopefully we

can show our bishop that this will help! Not sure why we needed to get

bishopric approval, I always thought that we worked with them anyway

haha. This time we just have guaranteed time during ward council. :)

We set a baptismal date with a man named Brian. He is super prepared!

It is for March 11th and this is going to be really great. It has been

a little bit since I found and baptized someone. It is always a

wonderful feeling.

We started to teach Brother Colby's sister in law Joann this past

week. She is super ready. Now the challenge with her will be her

choosing to come to our church rather than her old one. She already

believes a lot of what we do and is really open to us teaching her and

her trying to find new truths. It will just be hard for her to break

tradition. More to come on her!

Tricia is a member referral that we got this past week. It was a super

vague referral haha. We got a call form some sisters serving in Azle

and they told us about a woman in their ward who had someone for us

down in Burleson. They told us to go to Centennial high school at 6pm

and they would meet us outside. They didn't know a name or anything so

all we had to go off of was Centennial High at 6pm. That wasn't vague

at all haha! Well, we moved some tings around so we could be there. We

got there at 6 and we literally just stood there hoping that someone

would come over and say "Hey elders! Here we are!" But no such thing

occurred... well, after about 30 minutes of just waiting, we left

cause we needed to get to dinner. The next day, we were just getting

out of dinner at 6:20ish when we got a call from this woman asking us

if we were going to go to Centennial High that night. We were kind of

confused because we were told to go there Monday at 6 not Tuesday at

6, but now it made sense why no one talked to us haha! We went there

and met Tricia. Man, that is a testimony to member missionary work!

Tricia is super prepared and we will be teaching her on Thursday.

Hopefully, we will be set a baptism date with her.

Zone conference was this past Wednesday and it was pretty great! We

were taught about teaching using the Book of Mormon and helping

investigators receive revelation through it. It is weird, that was my

last official zone conference. Yes, that means that I bore my

departing testimony... That day comes for everyone I guess!

This upcoming Friday we have a meeting with Elder Gonzalez of the 70.

That will be pretty cool! I have always enjoyed it when general

authorities come to teach us!

Our zone has 7 baptismal dates for the next two months. We have 2 for

February and 5 for March. This new Key Indicator thing seems to be

working! We have gotten more new investigators and more people at

church and with a date! I am so excited for this zone. Wonderful

things will be happening and continue to happen.

I have found myself thinking a lot about Charity – the pure love of

Christ. It is really a huge deal if you think about it. I mean, Moroni

said that, "If [a man] have not charity, he is nothing; wherefore he

must needs have charity." Charity is so important that we need it in

order to be of worth something. When we have charity, we see others

through gods eyes and we treat them with the utmost love and respect.

Could you imagine a place where everyone did that? And that also means

that we are loved by God. Elder Jeffery R. Holland said, "the first

great commandment of all eternity is to love God with all of our

heart, might, mind, and strength – that’s the first great commandment.

But the first great truth of all eternity is that God loves us with

all of His heart, might, mind, and strength. That love is the

foundation stone of eternity, and it should be the foundation stone of

our daily life."

God loves us with all His heart, might, mind and strength. That is

amazing... :) I just love that.

Christ said that the first great commandment is to love God and the

second is to love thy neighbor and that upon those two laws hang the

entirety of the law and the prophets which means that every

commandment is going to be fulfilled and kept by those who truly love

the Lord. Now, i will add the same disclaimer that Elder Holland did

from D&C 46:9 “Verily I say unto you, [the gifts of God] are given for

the benefit of those who love me and keep … my commandments, and [for

them] that seeketh so to do.” Our striving, because we are not yet

perfect, is an evidence of our love. When we strive to love God we

will strive to keep His commandments because we love God. And that is

the most noble reason for keeping them.

I love you guys so much! Happy Valentines Day!

Keep the Faith and Hurrah for Israel!

Love, your missionary son and brother, Elder Jefferies
