Hello everybody! My preparation day is now Monday. It's been a little over a week since I have emailed home. To explain my headline. Elder Clayton (my comp) said that after we walked in the cold weather for hours (Picture of him at the end)
The plane ride here was my first plane ride ever! It was really cool to be so high up. However, I kind of got over it in about 20 min (couldn't see mountains anymore) and totally would have taken a road trip over it lol. Once I arrived in Baltimore I immediately met 2 of the assistant missionaries and my mission president! Haha it was so cool the missionaries were running around the airport with us and we would lightly help them place Books of Mormon. It took us about 45 min to leave the airport because we were talking to everybody haha. My mission president is President Mutumbo. He is one of the most loving people I have ever met. He has the most contagious laugh I have ever heard.
The next day we went to a meeting where we all were getting placed with our new companions. My trainer is Elder Clayton! He is a very hard working missionary. He is also very funny and fun to talk to. While we walk around he likes to give me riddles sometimes. There is one has has given me that he said I won't know it by the end of the transfer and Im starting to believe him! Our new area and my first area is Gettysburg, PA. It is super cool around here. A lot of building are still here from the war. Some houses still have bullet holes in them from the war, which I found pretty awesome. I go by the main fields the war happened in about every other day. My interest in the war has spiked since I got here. I am learning a lot about it from the people I talk to in the area. Also have a belief that a lot of the buildings are haunted. The main one is the abandoned civil war hospital (I took a picture of it). It gives me the creeps just to look at it haha.
The work has been slow. It has been freezing so much, my first couple days here the highest we hit was 3° during the day. And with how humid it is, it feels like it goes straight through your coat! Haha. So not very many people have even been on the streets this whole week. Contacting people has been hard. Mostly have had to just start knocking on doors and usually you barely get the first sentence out before they close it. Luckily it is starting to warm up a lot since Saturday. That was also the day I was able to place my first Book Of Mormon. So that's always a small stepping stone. We do have one person who is really close to baptism. We just need to get him out to church this week really. So keep your fingers crossed! And keep praying for us!
And now, I, Moroni, would speak somewhat concerning these things; I would show unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith.
I have pondered this scripture and thought how many times has my faith been tried? How often am I going through something hard and wondering why I don't have more faith in Heavenly Father? From reading this, as long as you continue to hold on to however much faith you have, it will always grow after your trial. You will have more faith in Christ!
