KLK!
You remember how I said that last week was really busy? Well, this week was way busier. We had a week full off stuff, including an 11 HOUR LEADER COUNCIL. We only had 2 citas this entire week haha. So, the area is not looking super awesome right now, but we´ll pick it up this next week, now that we will have time. But it was a good week all and all.
I got to meet my mission grandson (the missionary Elder Lyman is training). He's a cool dude. I'm excited for him and Elder Lyman. They'll have fun. My time in the office is really going by fast. Something interesting that happened this week in Peru, is that there was some kind of political uprising. Apparently, the president decided to get rid of congress. Congress said, "Hey, you can't do that!" So, they got rid of him and got their own president. So, there were 2 presidents at the same time. I'm not really sure what has happened since then, but i heard that a 3rd president got mixed in there too.
Alright, so it was conference weekend and it was amazing. It's funny how much I love conference as a missionary. It's like Christmas for missionaries haha. But I really thought it was great and the messages were very inspiring. I always like to look at the themes of the talks and how they all work together to make a few big themes of conference over all. I think the 2 most important themes I pulled out were: Being fully committed to the Lord Jesus Christ, and Trusting in the Lord. Both of which I think go hand in hand.
I loved Elder Uchtdorf's talk. It was probably my favorite. I feel like what he said about stepping out of our comfort zone and committing today to live more fully to seeking God and walk the path of discipleship was really applicable for me. For me, sometimes I lean towards taking the easier option that requires less work, but the gospel is not about that. It's about giving everything you have to progress spiritually and to help others progress as well. I liked how he said that discipleship is not about doing things perfectly, it's about doing things intentionally. All God asks is that we keep striving.
I also liked Elder Kinson's talk as well. It kind of talked about the same thing, but it also talked about the joy that we receive as we are committed to living the gospel. There were a lot of others too, but overall I felt that all of them invited us to put Christ at the center of our lives. As far as the changes go, I don't really have anything to say other than that they just make sense. I think all of the changes are for the better and they will help the members of the church grow more converted to the Lord.
We started reading the Book of Mormon again in 90 days, but this time we are supposed to read it and highlight with different colors. We highlight everytime Christ is mentioned, the words and commandments of Christ, the attributes of Christ, and the doctrine and priciples that are in the BOM. It's been pretty interesting so far. I've never studied the BOM like this before, so I'm enjoying it.
Well, have a good week. I'll be here mentiendo mano, no bulto.
