This week was another good one. Let me break it down for you:

I filled out a March Madness bracket. I had no idea what was going on with any of the teams. I didn't even have any stats to use to base my picks off of. So, I just used the spirit this year haha. I sent a picture of my "best guess" bracket to my family and they entered it in our family group. My mom took a screen shot of the standings and it doesn't look like I'm doing so hot haha.

Remember when I told you that my companion sleeps with his eyes open? Well, I got a picture of it and it's so crazy. They're like wide open! I don't know how he does it haha. (pic below)

Funny story (video below)...I was trying to find a bathroom one day in Sullana. Sullana is the closest city to me and far from my area. Because it's so far away, I couldn't use the bathroom of a member or the bathroom at my place. I found a public one, but when I went in, there was no toilet paper. Then I went into a different bathroom that I had to pay to use, but that one didn't have toilet paper either. So, I went and got my money back and decided I would use the bathroom at the church. Shockingly, that bathroom didn't have toilet paper either. So, I went into a little market by the church and I bought my own role of toilet paper so I could use the bathroom! Welcome to Peru haha. I will never take for granted toilet paper in a bathroom again.

We had a Venezuelan family move in. They're super awesome. The kids are fun, and the dad is hilarious. His name is Alexis and he makes me laugh so hard with the expressions he makes when he tells his stories and stuff. He made like a complete 180 with his life awhile ago. He was doing drugs, robbing and fighting people. He told me one time he got into it with this giant guy in his neighborhood that nobody messed with. He threw a few punches and knocked the dude down and then he ran off. He said he was so scared this guy was going to come looking for him, that he hid himself for a week. Eventually he had to go to work, but work was through the giant guy's neighborhood. So, Alexis went the long way around the neighborhood for a whole year to avoid the giant haha. He's too funny. I wish you all could meet him. They're whole family came to church last week. I love they're Venezuelan food. They've made us empanadas, pizza, and my favorite are the arepas.

I've been thinking a lot this week about revelation. That's what I've been studying this week and that's what our mission president has really been focusing on. I'm learning better how we have to be able to receive revelation from God to be able to do his work. You can't do God's work without His help. There's the now famous quote by President Nelson on how we won't be able to survive the coming times without revelation. So, it's so important now more than ever to receive revelation. I feel like that's been one of the themes to all of the changes that the church has made. One of the things that I've been working on is making time to ponder. A lot of times we ask, but we don't look for the answer. We just expect it to come. I really encourage you guys to work on receiving more personal revelation. There is a quote by Joseph Smith that says something along the lines of, "If all we ever learn to do is eat, drink and sleep, we are no better than the animals because they know how to do those things." Sometimes we fall into a routine of eating working and sleeping, but there is so much more to life than those things, We have to look for understanding of God's plan for us and that can only be found through revelation. He promises He will reveal all of His mysteries to those who look for them.

Have a good week.

Elder Andelin
