Keeping the Sabbath Day Holy

HEY!!! Another really good week in Winchester! Found a couple new super awesome new investigators. They are super awesome people!! Devin Ray and Jerry Perry both were at church this last week, they both really liked it. We're gonna have to slow play it a little bit with these two, but all is well. Our zone has been doing really good lately here too! We've been putting people on date and the sisters in our area have a baptism this next week super excited to bring our investigators to.

I have been thinking about Sabbath day observance recently. Each Sunday over the last month I've had a wonderful opportunity to fast for various reasons. Before I came out on my mission, and at the beginning, I will say that I did not understand the power and miracles that could come from fasting. None the less, Sundays are for the worship and direction of our thoughts and actions to our Father in Heaven and his Son. This is a day of recharge and renewal, to prepare for the upcoming week, to indulge ourselves in the study of eternal truths. Not to be idle, just take naps, and think of it as a of being lazy rather than a day of rest. Might I add, a day of rest is a day in which we rest from the world, and to focus on spiritual matters. If we take part in other activities such as sporting events, fishing, video games, movies, the list goes on; who are we really worshiping? On Sunday's do we go to the movies, or video games or fishing or things that involve worldly things ?One day out of the week, we are expected to worship Him, give thanks for all that we have and allow the Holy Ghost to work within us. I hope that we can each ponder this as we are worshiping on Sunday! I promise the blessings of correct Sabbath Day observance will far out last the the "reward" of something contrary to our Fathers specific instructions on the Sabbath Day. This is true, I know it, I feel it and I’ve have testimony of it. I pray we can each take a step forward (however the step, it doesn't matter, as long as we are stepping in the right direction). I know Our savior will strengthen us as we sacrifice the temporal things for spiritual things! In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Love you all,
Elder Shouse
