Light of the World

Hey everyone! Hope your week was good! We had a pretty solid week too! Got the chance to talk to a lot of people and set up a bunch of return appointments for this week! Unfortunately the dynamic duo is being split up :( I know, lame, right? Elder Dyer and I have had an awesome time serving together. We've seen a lot of miracles and we've especially seen the hand of the Lord in our lives. So Elder Dyer will be taking over this area that I'm leaving, and I will be going to the very edge of Maryland, to Antietam. From what I've been told it's a pretty rural area, but I will be surrounded by a lot of good missionaries, which I'm pretty excited about! I guess the areas are so close together that all the Elders in the zone get together in the morning to play basketball. Sweet! Pretty excited to go, but also sad to leave. I was able to say goodbye to bunch of members last night, and Diana and Tony also. So proud of their progress. I can't wait to see them married in the temple next year!!

So I'm sorry my letter is a little short this week, so I'll try and make up for it with my thought. We were preparing the other day for several dinners that we had this week, and all the families that we went over to, had kids in high school/middle school. So I thought I would share the same message with you guys! First I would like you to watch a video.

For those of us who have brothers and sisters in school, children, grandchildren, ect. It is so important for them to have courage to stand against the negatives, they so fully face each and every day. Along with them being an example to their peers, the example must first come from their loved ones, the ones closest to them. In the world today, we face trials and challenges that were not accepted 20-30 years ago, but are embraced by modern society today. Some would say that slowly the light is being consumed by the darkness. But I would say the opposite, we must have courage. We all can let our light so shine, to all the world. As we strengthen those individuals around us, they will do the same to others. The Lord knew this day would come where the faith of the elect would be tested, I know today is that day. May we each dare to have courage, strive for our purpose, and always dare to make it known. I know this is the true church on the earth today. I know that the light will eventually cast out the dark, and I know that Jesus Christ is that very light I speak of.
In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Love you all,
Elder Shouse
