Holy Hanna it has been hot!!! The last week the heat index has been up to 110 degrees most of the week!...I heard from an unreliable source that it's going to cool down this next week (it was elder Dyer haha he tells me "there is no way mother nature can keep this up"). So we will see what happens, but I'm melting. Elder Dyer and I had a really good week, got to talk to a lot more people. It's so weird that so many people are out during the day when it's so darn hot!
I had a really cool experience yesterday. We had gone in for the night and were planning for the next day. We got a call from a number neither of us recognized, we answered it and a very familiar voice was on the other line. His name is Brother Morris. He was in my old ward. Elder Rutter and I run into him and soon found out that he was an excommunicated member of the church. I was able to work with Brother Morris almost the whole time I was in Eldersberg. He had called to tell me that he was going to be baptized this next week, and wanted to thank us for finding him. He had a sweet spirit about him, and as we talked the spirit bore witness to me of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, and Heavenly Father's love that he has for each of His children.
I had another tender mercy today as I was signing on to email, I received many emails from friends and family telling me about my two best friends, and their farewell talks. Elder Joshua Collette will be serving the people of Nampa Idaho, and Elder Nicholas Purcell will be serving the people of Birmingham Alabama. What examples they are to us, what an example they are to me. I have known these two my whole life! I love them deeply. I know that the Lord has called them for a special purpose, and I know that they will serve the Lord with all their might, mind and strength!
I want to add my testimony to Elder Uchtdorf's... I know that our Father in Heaven is constantly raining down blessing from heaven. The commandments are guidelines to help us receive those rain drops of blessings that our Father in Heaven so willingly wants to give us. He loves us more than we can presently comprehend. As we follow the commandments, we take down the umbrellas that is presently blocking those blessings. I love this gospel, I know it is true. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ amen.
Challenge: for those of you who have patriarchal blessings, I encourage you to read them this week and ponder how God sees you and the potential you have. I know that from those blessing we can receive divine revelation as to how we can help better our lives and receive more blessings, as we let them rain down upon us.
