My heart is full...I got some wonderful emails this week! And i can't thank the Lord enough for the tender mercies I have been able to see.
We live in a wonderful world, and an even better age. The gospel is more accessible to us than it has ever been before. Sometimes with all the bad things going on in the world, it is hard to see the good. Before I tell you all about my week, I want to start off with my spiritual thought:
Every morning, about 88,000 missionaries wake up across the globe to prepare for the day and study the scriptures. We get an hour of personal study, and an hour of companionship study. I have come to love those two hours very much. It has been some of the most Spiritual and revelatory times in my life. "Seek ye out the best books, words of wisdom; seek learning even by study and also by faith." (D&C 88:118) We must seek! But seek not for the things of this life, but the scriptures tell us to seek for eternal things. We take our knowledge with us into the next life and it is so important to do all that we can to learn and grow. What a charge that has been laid upon us to grow constantly toward eternity! None of us can assume that we have learned enough. "As the door closes on one phase of life, it opens another...where we must continue to pursue knowledge. Ours ought to be a ceaseless quest for truth." - Gordon B. Hinckley
"God shall give unto you knowledge by His holy spirit, yea by the unspeakable gift of the Holy Ghost." (D&C 121:26) I have a testimony of study and truly studying the scriptures with faith, gives the Holy Ghost the opportunity to call things to our remembrance in those times of need. I know I would not be able to be a missionary without the Holy Ghost, but also the studying I do each morning. The Lord knows what we need, and we need to study, ponder and pray. I encourage each of you to ponder your studying of the scriptures. If you're reading them every night, read an extra chapter! If you haven't been reading at all, start! The holy Ghost can not draw from things that are not there. I know that if we seek we shall find, and even in perilous times, a light can always be found if we are looking for it! I know these things to be true and I say that in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
My week was awesome! we picked up some more great investigators. And again we had an awesome experience! Two of our investigators (Rich and Kasey) were going through a rough time this week with the death of their grandmother. Kasey was very close to her and we could tell that she was very hurt. We talked a little about what had happened, then Elder Dyer and I began to bare our testimonies of the afterlife, and how we knew where we were going and what comfort it gave us. I know that through testimony the spirit can speak peace to all those who need it. It was wonderful and the spirit was so strong.
Elder Dyer and I love each other...haha! We are just the best of pals. We both love to work hard which has really made it easy for us to get things done. The week was great and I can't wait to see what next week holds!
