Hey everybody! I hope this week has been good for everyone! We had some ups and downs this week but Heavenly Father always helps us end it on a good note!
Last Monday Elder Carlson's license expired so we had to go to the MVA and get him a new one. The line was three hours long, no worries though I brought a pen and paper and was able to write a bunch of letters;). So to those who received letters and will receive letters this week know I "used time wisely" (Preach my Gospel Chapter 8). Tuesday we had zone training and my zone leaders gave a wonderful training on "the fourth Missionary" basically how to be a boss in the mission field! Really liked it! Wednesday Elder Carlson woke up with a fever and was super sick so we had to stay in most of the day. I tried to keep my distance since I didn't want to get sick also. I haven't been sick in so long I told myself my immune system is too strong for E. Carlson's weak sickness. I was wrong....haha I caught the bug also so we were inside most of the day of Thursday and Friday also:( we had to cancel a few appointments which was the worst part of it all. But on Friday we still went out and proselyted and got into a guys home named Troy. He is super awesome - hope he didn't get sick – haha - we are terrible. "We should be spreading the gospel, not germs." ~Elder Carlson We have our next appointment with him this Friday so super stoked for that! We are for the most part better now which is good and like I said Heavenly Father always loves to end our week on a good note. Last night we went over to our investigator Peter’s house and we caught him at the perfect time. He let us in reluctantly after he had been gone for work all weekend. We could tell he was visibly tired, but he let us in. We then began to teach him the lesson we had prepared just in case he happened to be home cause usually he's not home at this time. We began and immediately felt the spirit and we could tell it was working through us and him. We ended the lesson and he gave the most sincere prayer I have ever heard an investigator give asking His Father in Heaven if this was the direction he was suppose to take. I think he got his answer. Little miracles. Love this gospel!
After having a lot of time to study this week I reflected on a scripture President Hinckley used several times throughout his talks. "Whosoever shall save his life shall lose it..But whosoever shall be willing to lose his life for my sake, and the gospel, the same shall save it." (Mark 8:37-38) Service! As we go through our daily life, do we think to serve others, is that something that we constantly have in the back of our minds or at the front. I can think of the greatest service that was given on this earth, and that was the atoning sacrifice of our Savior. Like our Savior will we constantly put others needs before our own? I feel that as we loose our life in the service of others we realize that there is more to life than just our own. This is part of Heavenly Fathers great plan, have charity, have compassion, have a prayer of service in our hearts. And one day we will be welcomed into Gods hands with open arms, because as we serve our brothers and sisters we are serving our Father in Heaven. In the name of Jesus Christ Amen.
I love you all, stay healthy, stay away from sick people!
