Week 8 (with the MTC)

Sup. So, this week was crazy, difficult, and also rewarding. This morning my plan was to kind of just complain in my email, but after reading a couple of articles in the Liahona (a church magazine), I felt the spirit so strongly, I decided I should probably lighten up.

We had an exchange this week, and I went with Elder Hatch. It was very different--he isn´t at all like Elder Castillo. It was relaxing to be able to speak English again, and he also helped me begin a hobby. Here, they've got a lot of sweets, and he showed me an empty first-aid kit with over a hundred unique wrappers from alfajores, which are cookies and dulce de leche sandwiched together and covered in chocolate. They're really good, and I look forward to eating many more of them and collecting their wrappers.

My stomach at times has had a rough time adjusting, but I've never felt stronger in some ways. Seriously, I have no idea what I was doing wrong before my mission, but now, everyday the spirit burns within me, guides me, and teaches me as I strive to live the doctrine of Christ.

You guys sound like things are amazing! (Maybe I should have left earlier!) I still can't fathom how you guys are cramming so many great things together:Tennis, school, Shakespeare, temple, and writing to me. I love you guys!

My challenge to each of you is to read something that uplifts you. For me, it was an article about the sacrament. The fourth article of faith details the path of the doctrine of Christ, but it isn´t a one-time journey. The sacrament is a large part of how we take that journey every week, learning, improving, and coming unto Jesus Christ. I testify of the truth found in D&C 19:23, that by understanding and following Christ, we can have peace, and we can also grow wiser and stronger.

Elder Sheffer

Doctrine & Covenants 19:23
Learn of me, and listen to my words; walk in the meekness of my Spirit, and you shall have peace in me.

P.S. Ben’s answers to my questions from last week: It's just the two of us in a house. We walk everywhere. The mission president called me after the watch incident and he was worried and is paying for a new (less expensive) watch. Also, I have a couple pictures, but not a lot since I'm trying not to get robbed again. This computer isn't taking them, so I´ll try to send them next week.
