Week 15: Sto Lat! New Dance Class! Funny Polish Ladies!

Hey everyone!!! I hope that you all had an amazing week back home, and that you are all getting ready for the holidays coming up pretty soon!!

This week was a busy one for us! I had my first interview in Kielce with President Chandler, it was so awesome! We went to a very nice Italian restaurant and he even bought us all ice cream for my birthday which was the following day!

President Chandler and I worked out a plan for me to begin a FREE HIP HOP CLASS in Kielce!!!! We are testing it out for a month and seeing what kind of teaching opportunities come from it! I am so so excited to use DANCE (my favorite thing in the world haha) to help teach the gospel! We are starting on November 26th! Now it's time to make some choreography!πŸ•ΊπŸΌ

This week I turned 19! What better way to spend a birthday than spreading happiness to the people of Poland. It was a great day!! I didnt have a chance to thank everyone back home for the AMAZING videos you all sent me on my birthday, and the awesome birthday messages! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for remembering your missionary all the way across the world in Poland! I love you all! My companion made me waffles for breakfast and Josh took us to an awesome burger place for lunch! He even bought me a Poland t shirt! So awesome! For dinner we found a really neat American Indian and cowboy themed restaurant and ate wings and ribs! Felt like I was right back on good ol Utah!πŸ˜πŸ˜‚ I also was blessed to be able to call home and see so many of my family members and loved ones. What a great day!

On Saturday we traveled south to meet WiesΕ‚aw and his family again!! Oh I cant tell you how much I love that family. They are so special to me! Especially La La! She is the cutest 2 year old ever! She's my best friend! Dominik the oldest is interested in being baptized with WiesΕ‚aw! I am so happy for him. I know that that decision will bless his life for eternity! Meeting with the family was so great! We ate LOTS of food and taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the family! We played lots of games together and had an amazing time. I was so grateful for their hospitality and for the bond we share with them.

While contacting this week we talked with a lady who was quite curious about who we are! She looked at us and said, "My son is about your same age... Arent you two around 37 years old?"... You should have seen her face when we told her we were 19!πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I dont know why but that was the 3rd time a person has thought we were way older than we are!

We also got an appointment to meet with the President of Kielce this upcoming Friday! It was hilarious meeting with his secretaries this week to pan our meeting! This man who we know pretty well (Presidents main secretary) introduced us to the secretary ladies and was like, "Gentlemen! This young lady over here is Husbandless! I need you to do me a favor and take care of that for her!"
OH MY GOSHπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I was dying! She was blushing and my companion and I were like, well that's just super awkward!πŸ˜‚ We were like, nope sorry! We've got other plans!!! Wont be doing that! I seriously think people believe we are way older than we actually are! It was just a funny experience!

We also spoke to a lady who live in America for a while! She made me laugh, her personality was so great! At the end of our conversation, she reached up and pulled us to her and said in Polish "I will now smother you in kisses" I had no idea what that meant in Polish! It all happened so fast haha! She pulled us down to her to hug us and kissed us both on our necks...πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Luckily she was old, but it was just a very peculiar situation. She was very sweet! It's very Polish to kiss someone you are good friends with, and I guess we just became good friends very fast!! She took a Book of Mormon and wants to attend our church meeting sometime! It was great!!

I found out that December 6th is Santa Clause Day in Poland! That means it is basically the classic American Christmas woty the gifts and things like that! Christmas itself is a 3 day celebration with lots and lots of food! They wait for the first star in the sky to appear to start eating their meal, and the children also believe that on Christmas there is a Magic Star that brings them presents. I love that haha! Anyways that's just a really cool fact that I learned about this country.

This week I have been thinking about faith quite a bit. To me, I think some people are afraid to exercise their faith because having faith leads a person to action. Faith leads you in unknown directions and can completely reroute ones life. Many of us are afraid of change. When in reality when we follow Christ, the Lord has a plan for each of us that will make us happier than we could comprehend. We often think we know what is best for us! But if only we could understand more deeply that God knows us better than we know ourselves. The thing that we all need to understand is that we are not just on Earth by some coincidence. We arent just here to live it up because we are going to die at some point. We are here being tested. Life is meant to be enjoyed, we are that we might experience joy in this life. This joy cant be found in the materialistic, nor can it come from mind numbing substances or everyday distractions that give us small burst feelings of what we have decided to call happiness.

Where do we find that happiness that doesn't go away after we put down our phone, or after we've taken that last drink? Where is that happiness? Dont be upset if you haven't found it yet... that's the reason we are here. Even those who have had that happiness their entire lives have to discover what it means to them personally at some point in time. This happiness that I speak of is that of living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The happiness we all long for is in the promises we not only make to one another, but the scared commitments we make with our Heavenly Father. No greater joy comes into our lives than when we follow after Christ in faith and trust that if we follow his example and if we do the things which will bring us closer to God, we will have joy. NEVER ENDING JOY.

This isn't to say that because you've started on this path that there wont be difficulties. If there weren't difficulties and you didn't learn ANYTHING on earth, could you really say you are prepared to live with God, and can you say you did everything you could to become more like him? Our Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ have overcome all things, and desire the same for us. They provide help so that we never have to do it alone. I think of all the blessings that have come from having faith. I have an eternal family. I am a holder of the Priesthood, I am living across the world in a foreign country, I have the holy ghost and a knowledge of where I came from, what my purpose is and where I am going. I live each day with purpose and happiness because of what the gospel teaches me.

I am on a mission for so many reasons, but one of them is in order to learn something about myself, and see if I will do whatever the Lord asks of me. Right now that is my test of faith. I believe it's a life long effort trying to develop faith. I also believe that by demonstrating faith, and overcoming our struggles we will be blessed and find ourselves in a place much better than where we are now! But remember that patience is the key! Trusting in the Lords timing is apart of having faith!

I love Kielce! I love Poland! I'm so excited to keep working and discovering more about this culture and it's people! Polish is coming along! It's much easier than it was the first few weeks, but I have so much to learn! Thank you all for your love and prayers. And thank you again for the birthday wishes! I love you all!
