Olá amigos e família!!!This week was probably one of the best weeks that I've had on the mission so far! There were so many funny moments and activities, but also some pretty crazy spiritual experiences that all went down this past week!!
We were able to help out with a TON of different service opportunities this week. We helped a couple non-member families move into the area, helped an older couple with some yard work, and helped an elderly lady put together a bookcase. Each of these opportunities were so much fun to help out with! It is truly so rewarding to see the smile on someone's face after helping them out. I think all of this service definitely played a HUGE role in making this week so enjoyable!!
For our english class this week, we decided to make cookies and bring them for all the Brazilians. We made the cookies with one of the random pre-made cookie dough rolls from Walmart, so nothing too special haha. We arrived with the plate of cookies and 10 minutes later the WHOLE plate was gone! All of the Brazilians had devoured our plate of cookies! They absolutely loved them and we actually had a lot of the ladies there start asking us for the recipe haha! We kinda avoided the questions and so now they all think we are professionals at making cookies. We'll see how long our little secret lasts hahaha!
Another funny memory I have from this week happened as we were driving in the car. Elder Hickman was driving, Elder Masitis was in the back, and I was sitting in shotgun. We were on the phone with an older lady in our ward, who was telling us about how her husband was recovering from a recent surgery. The phone was on speaker and I was holding it in between all three of us, so that each of us could talk to her. She was explaining to us how her husband's recovery has been, when all of the sudden, a car cuts us off and Elder Hickman yells "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?" right into the speaker phone!! He then remembered we were on speaker and there were a couple seconds of silence as we stared at the phone in fear of what the lady was going to say. However, the lady just continued talking! She for sure heard Elder Hickman's mini road rage, but since she didn't say anything about it we decided to move on and not bring it up hahaha. After she hung up, we could not stop laughing and thinking about how grateful we were that the situation wasn't worse than it is!!
Moral of the story: Even missionaries make mistakes! Nobody is perfect. However, through the Atonement of Jesus Christ we can repent and "try a little harder to be a little better" everyday, even when it comes to road rage :)
I love y'all! Have a blessed week!
Love, Elder Moffat
