Olá amigos e família!I hope y'all had a wonderful week! Down here in Alabama, everybody is anxiously awaiting the college football season! It has been pretty fun to hear people talk about how excited they are for the season haha. I have enjoyed it as well because it is BY FAR the easiest way to start up a conversation with literally anyone you want! However, finding a way to transition football talk to the Church has been pretty hard because, for most people, football IS their religion haha!
This past week we had quite the cool experience. It happened on Friday as we were walking down the driveway of a member's house to go have dinner with them. As we were walking down the driveway, the next door neighbor waved us over to drop by and say hi. The lady who waved us over is a strong member in the ward that we know pretty well, so we were happy to go talk to them for a little bit. When we got over there, we were able to meet her daughter that served a mission, but then left the Church after coming back. We talked with her for a while about her mission and it was super cool to see her totally light up with excitement as she told us about it! A couple days later, that lady told us that when we had dropped by and talked to her daughter, she had never seen her daughter light up with so much excitement and love for the Gospel and her time on her mission!! She told us that our presence there truly made the difference and helped remind her of the testimony she has of the Church!
This experience was so powerful for me because it helped me realize that we can be planting seeds of faith even when we aren't aware of it. It reminded me of a quote that my companion Elder Hickman always says, "Live your life in such a way that those who know you but don't know Christ will come to know Christ because they know you." As we strive to live like Christ did, we will invite others to come unto Him because of our example. I invite each of you to make a special effort to be a righteous example for those around you this week!
I love y'all so much! Have a blessed week!!
