Olá amigos e família!!!This saturday is actually my last day of Online MTC! I'm super excited to get to the field, but also kinda bummed that Online MTC will be over. It blows my mind when I think of how much I have learned and grown these last few weeks. This past month has truly flown by and I'm so grateful that I've enjoyed it so much!
I was able to teach another lesson in Portuguese this week and it was so good!! I was pretty nervous that I would freeze up again and forget all my Portuguese, but the lesson was super smooth! We taught him about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and it was pretty powerful. I finally redeemed myself from the rough lesson I had last week! I have a couple more practice lessons in Portuguese this week, but I'm feeling a ton more comfortable with them now.
This past week I actually received my travel plans to Alabama and I am sooo pumped!!! I leave the morning of July 7th and fly into Dallas, then from there to the Birmingham Alabama airport. I'm flying with 3 other missionaries that were called there as well so that'll be fun! With my last day of the Online MTC being this Saturday the 27th and my flight date being the 7th of July, my stake presidency decided that it would be better to keep me set apart for those 9 days instead of being released and then re-set apart as a missionary. I personally think that this will help me keep the missionary mindset and momentum going! I plan to practice teaching a couple lessons to families in my ward and also look for service opportunities throughout the week. It should be pretty fun!
This past week I had the opportunity to tune in to a workshop over Zoom about Finding Through Members. I learned a lot about the importance of gaining the trust of members so that they can help you find people to teach. During this workshop, they invited us to share something Gospel-related with a friend in need. I felt prompted to send an old friend of mine a Book of Mormon video about Nephi and his broken bow. I usually get kind of nervous when sharing Gospel-related stuff with my friends because I don't want it to somehow hurt our relationship, but I prayed that he would receive it with love and sent it anyway. After spending all day worrying about the text I had sent him, my friend finally texted me back and said that this video was exactly what he needed! My friend told me how he remembered me sharing my testimony about Nephi and his broken bow in Primary wayyyy back in the day. I couldn't even remember that haha, but I am so glad that he was touched and reminded of the testimony I bore that day! It was such an answer to my prayers!
I know that as we each follow the promptings of the Spirit, we will become instruments in the hands of God. He will use us to preach of His Gospel and invite others to Come unto Christ. As we do this, we will bless the lives of others and further develop our testimonies of missionary work. I love you all and I love being a missionary!
Love, Elder Moffat
