This week was way hard. I've had a headache since we finished hiking El Cerron on Monday until Saturday. We're reaching a point with a lot of investigators where we have to leave them behind. Even though I love them so much, they just don't keep the commitments well or at all or they just don't want to progress which is always a heartbreaker. We've been teaching the niece of the Bishop and she needs to get married with her boyfriend or break up. She says that no one will stop her from getting baptized but right now there are two people stopping her from progressing. Her boyfriend and her! The Bishop's wife told her straight up that she has no future with this guy (he's also their nephew...) but Veronica doesn't want to leave him. She's really awesome and comes to church every week, has changed a ton of things in her life, and even conducts family home evenings but she does not want to quit this guy. We can't really teach her anything more at this point so we're going to have to stop visiting her until she breaks up with Edwar or he decides to marry her after years of indecision. There are other people that we have to quit visiting but she's the case that hurts most. We have been finding a few positive people which has really lifted up my hopes for the next change. By the time I send this email I will have known if I'm staying in Candelaria or leaving. hehehe This week we tried visiting somebody that we didn't really like in the ward and they actually turned out to be pretty cool. Moral of the story, make sure you give everybody a fair chance before shunning them.XD This week I have been focusing on improving my prayers. Sometimes it's really hard to give a nice prayer of faith at the end of the day when you're exhausted from hiking in the blazing sun all day and being rejected but I've found that as I've been improving my prayers of faith, as described in Preach My Gospel, I've found a greater appreciation for the blessings and small successes that we have in every day. If we make more of an effort to think of all the blessings we have recieved during the day, we are more likely to feel the love of Our Heavenly Father. Every person can feel joy if they just count their blessings and don't think too much about their future blessings. I really like what Preach my Gospel says concerning how we should pray, it says,"In your prayers at night, give the Lord an accounting of your day's activities. Then review with Him your plan for the next day. Listen for the promptings of the Spirit." This is a thing that I didn't really do before but it has helped me pray more personally with My Father and I feel more like he's listening when I put more effort into conversing with him. A scripture that called my attention during the week is Doctrine and Covenants 42:14. It says "And the Spirit shall be given unto you by the prayer of faith: and if ye receive not the Spirit ye shall not teach." This scripture makes it pretty clear that we are not the teachers here but only the vessels that carry the Spirit into the lives of our investigators so that he can teach them and touch their hearts. But ye Prayers of faith are powerful and I would compel every one of you, my beautiful family and friends, to strive to pray a prayer of faith every time that you kneel down before the Creator of all things and I promise you that you will see more miracles and blessings in your life than ever before. "All victory and glory is brought to pass unto you through your diligence, faithfulness, and prayers of faith" (D&C 103:36) one of President Spjut's favorite scriptures but that's exactly what it is. Scripture. So if you want Victory and Glory, be diligent, be faithful, and pray with Faith. Love you all a ton and hope you have a Amazing week!
