Week 1 - Crazy Awesome First Week!
Hey Everybody!!
The subject of this email is "Crazy Awesome First Week!". By that I mean that it has been crazy and awesome and like pretty much every single emotion in between! It has been a roller coaster over these past couple days, but overall it has been a very positive experience!
After I said my goodbyes and got dropped off, I walked up a flight of stairs and then boom! I was right in the middle of the action. The cool thing was that right when I walked up the flight of stairs, Elder Aaron Mitchell walked out of the door in front of me! That was way cool and I got to talk to him for a second before they sped me through all of the other things. The first building they gave me my nametags, books, packets, checked if my tablet was working, and then they spit me out the other side. I then went to my room, and then right over to my classroom. This is when I got to meet my district for the first time. In my district we have 7 people going to New Hampshire and others going to Edmenton, Canada, and Pittsburg, and Portand. I also got to meet my teachers, Sister Boucher and Brother Hollingshead. I am so lucky that they are my teachers! They are so amazing and know so much about the gospel, as well as being fun and awesome!!
My companion's name is Elder Leavitt. He is from Rexburg, Idaho. He is a cool dude. We get along really well and it has been really cool to be able to get to know him!
One of the coolest thing in the MTC so far has definitely been teaching TRC's and PI's. Those are pretty much just people that could be real investigators or they could be people pretending to be real investigators. Either way, they are very spiritual and fun! Last night, Elder Leavitt and I got to teach an investigor named Emily. As we walked outside, we noticed that "Emily" was actually one of our teachers. We got really nervous becasue that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good thing is that we won't make her scared of the church if we mess up, but the bad thing was that she would be able to judge us if we did bad! As we taught the lesson to her it was so good! It was the best lesson that Elder Leavitt and I have taught! I could definitely feel the spirit and we both we're able to answer the questions that she had. When we got done and went back inside, we fist bumped each other because we knew how well it went. We were both just so excited that we did so well and I want that feeling in my life everyday!!
One of the main things that I have learned while here at the MTC is my purpose on why I am here. In 3 Nephi 5:13 it says, "Behold, I am a desciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life." This is why I am here, I want to delcare this restored gospel that they might have everlasting life. I also want to bring everlasting joy to all those that I come in contact with! I am so excited to be in the MTC to learn how to do that! I love all of you guys and appreciate all of the support!
Love,
Elder Brown
