Week 60: แก้ว, โอ๊ต, and Transfers

This week was super interesting!

So first off we were really working hard to find more male investigators, because we are trying to build the priesthood quorums. So we went inviting a good amount and we found a lot of good male investigators we are super excited to work with.

Also this week, we worked alot with แก้ว(gai-o)because we were getting her ready for her baptism! She has so much faith, and she has come along way for this. She has overcome alot of different obstacles and challenges, and she interviewed for baptism on Friday. After the interview, we figured she was ready, but between the District Leader and Elder Ryberg and I, we decided we wanted to make sure her baptism was a super special day, and that she truly and deeply understood who christ was and what he did for her, so we moved it to the next week. We thought it would be good for her, but funny thing, the members were all like, "what! You moved it? No way she's ready now!" I had 4 of her good friends come up and ask me why we moved it hahaha they all felt like she was ready. But hey, if they are ready they can wait a week, so that's what we did. It just helped to show the love the members have for her tho. I'm confident she'll become a great member of this church, even with her language barrier.

Also this week we were trying to help โอ๊ต(oat)get ready for baptism. Due to his work schedule tho, we had to move him back a bit. But we did go over the interview questions with him, and I felt the spirit so strong during that lesson with him, it was awesome. We also took the branch president to go see him and teach him too one day, and it was awesome because the branch president converted to the church when he was around the same age as โอ๊ต, and he experienced the same social pressures as โอ๊ตis is experiencing now. So it was super good for them to chat, and president helped him understand that this is truly the right path and will be worth it no matter what. I was also blessed to give him a blessing to help him overcome his urge to smoke. It's so cool to see how he has grown and to see the light that has grown into his life.

Also this week was tranfer week! And I'm so happy to report that I get to stay in Phuket one more tranfer with Elder Ryberg! I'm so happy, and I'm super excited and ready to make this the best transfer yet! This will most certainly be my last transfer in Phuket tho, so I'm definitely going to make the best out of it that I can.

This week, I was reading in mosiah 4:9-12, which reminded me of what Elder Dollery (my district leader) trained us on this week. Elder Dollery talked alot about the differences between Nephi and Laman, like even though they had the same parents and came from the same family, why did Nephi turn out to be a great humble servant of the lord, and Laman turned out to be the opposite, a non-believer, and persecutor? Well, Elder Dollery explained most people would say it was their attitudes. Nephi was always positive and outgoing and trusting in the Lord, while Laman wasn't. That is true, but there is more to it then that. And that was the fact that Laman and his followers did not know "the dealing of... God" (1 Nephi 2:12,15:8-9) and Nephi understood (1 Nephi 1:1, 2:16). If we understand the works, and the dealings, and mysteries of God, that automatically helps us all have a better attitude, more motivation, more courage and confidence. Because at that point, we KNOW our purpose, what we should and need to do in this life, because we know our God, our creator, or Father in Heaven. It clears up anything that isn't clear in our lives.

So for everyone, I ask you to consider these words from Mosiah chapter 4, and begin to "grow in the knowledge... of Him that created you". I know you and the ones you love will recieve blessings from doing so.

9 Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend.
10 And again, believe that ye must repent of your sins and forsake them, and humble yourselves before God; and ask in sincerity of heart that he would forgive you; and now, if you believe all these things see that ye do them.
11 And again I say unto you as I have said before, that as ye have come to the knowledge of the glory of God, or if ye have known of his goodness and have tasted of his love, and have received a remission of your sins, which causeth such exceedingly great joy in your souls, even so I would that ye should remember, and always retain in remembrance, the greatness of God, and your own nothingness, and his goodness and long-suffering towards you, unworthy creatures, and humble yourselves even in the depths of humility, calling on the name of the Lord daily, and standing steadfastly in the faith of that which is to come, which was spoken by the mouth of the angel.
12 And behold, I say unto you that if ye do this ye shall always rejoice, and be filled with the love of God, and always retain a remission of your sins; and ye shall grow in the knowledge of the glory of him that created you, or in the knowledge of that which is just and true.

Love you'll! Have a great week! Stay awesome,
Elder Anderson
