First off, we got a referral this week from the Thai missionary sisters from temple square. This lady apparently studied online about the Book of Mormon and then requested one be brought to her. The one problem was, she was far away from us, in a city called ป่าตอง (Baatong) this city is kind of a bad city for missionaries because it's basically the Las Vegas of Phuket. Not so good, and way way touristy. We have been asked not to go there very often. But to get there, there's only one obstacle. A mountain. Elder Robinson has gone the normal, car path before, but he says it's hard and the road is narrow, so a little dangerous. But, the map app on our phone said there was a path specifically for bikes, so we decided to go that way. At first it was a gradual uphill climb, up and up and up, and eventually, the paved road turned into dirt. And then it got steeper. And more slippery. We got to a point when we had to walk our bikes up because the dirt was so slippery and the path so steep, we just couldn't peddle up there. And then we walked. And we walked. And the sun was hot, and the path was getting narrower, and the jungle getting thicker (Elder Robinson saw a huge snake at one point.) Sweat covered every single inch of our bodies, and then finally we crested, only to find out the path down was steeper, and less unkempt, and totally not possible for us to bike down. So we carefully climbed our way down this path, until boom! We found pavement again! And this stuff was smooth, and all downhill. There was one stretch of downhill, that was so long and smooth and nice, we started going faster than some of the motorcycles and cars on the path down - which probably meant we were going too fast-but not gunna lie, it was really fun, and helped to dry our sweat off. We got down the mountain to where we needed to be, and after high fives and shouts of joy, we went to find this lady. We found her! But, even tho we had biked up a mountain and through a jungle, she said the following, "ไม่ว่าง". Which means "I'm not free". She said she couldn't give us 5 minutes of the day cause she had to get her restaurant ready for the evening rush. We were so sad, physically drained, so we headed on back up the mountain. This time we took the car way back, cause Elder Robinson said it is way easier than the mountain trail, and after a few tears, and some sore legs, we finally got back over the mountain. We did some more appointments, and we were both so exhausted when we got home. It was a fun day!
Also, this week's work blew up, especially when we went to go see one of our investigators พร(Pawn). We met him, and he said he wanted to introduce us to his friend, so we followed him to his friend's house, which actually was a makeshift church of kinds. His friend owned a church! And everyone there was interested in this church! So we got there, met some of the people there, and sat down and introduced the Book of Mormon to them, cleared up some doctrinal questions, and told them we'd be back tomorrow with more Book of Mormons. It was such a miracle! There were ten people there that were so interested in this church. They have studied many churches before, and were curious about this church, and what we actually believed in. It was so cool that we were able to teach them. The next day we went back with the branch president, and we talked and got to know each other and answered some more questions, but we weren't able to teach them because they were too busy chatting and eating food (we went there during lunch time and they fed us) but, we are going to try to meet with them all individually in the future this week. I'm so excited to teach them all!
Also this week for pday, we went fishing! First, we fished off the shore into the ocean, but the tide was down and was going down, so we went to a little pond by our house. There, I caught a catfish and a turtle! 😂 We kept the catfish and I cooked it up the next night. It was actually way way good. อร่อยมากๆ!
Anyways yeah sorry I sent this email out late but I hope you have had great weeks and I hope you know I love each and every one of you! But more importantly, Heavenly Father loves each and every one of you. You are His children and if you'll just try to get to know Him, I promise you'll experience His love in your life in ways you couldn't even imagine!
1 Nephi 11:25
"And it came to pass that I beheld that the rod of iron, which my father had seen, was the word of God, which led to the fountain of living waters, or to the tree of life; which waters are a representation of the love of God; and I also beheld that the tree of life was a representation of the love of God."
Pray to Him, and hold on (read) to His word in the Bible and in the Book of Mormon and I promise you'll experience this "fountain of living waters" which is God's love.
