Week 29: Switch offs and the Book of Mormon

This week was really fun and interesting. We dropped a ton of our investigators this week just because some of them weren't interested and some of them just weren't progressing. So we went way hard on finding new people to teach this week, and we did pretty well this week. We found some really cool people and are excited to teach them coming up this week!

Also, this week I went on switch offs with one of the zone leaders, Elder Fillmore from Utah. He was really cool and super fun to work with. He is going home next transfer, and his Thai is incredible! Since I've been the oldest in my companionship, and have gone on switch offs with Elders of about my same age in the mission, it was cool to hear an older Elder's Thai, and gain a new perspective about how to go about the work. It was really fun and I learned a lot.

Also this week, สมชาย(somchay) got the priesthood! We talked to him and he talked to the bishop, and all is good with him. So this last Sunday, he received the Aaronic priesthood. He looked so happy and so at peace. I'm glad he was finally able to get it.

This week we also met an investigator named Jensen. His mom is Thai, his dad is Russian. He was born in Bangkok, but raised in Canada. He came back to Bangkok recently, and he is a
gusto professional piano player. He puts on Concerts that people pay to come and see, and he's only 17. So we met with him to see where he's at. The only reason he hasn't gotten baptized yet is because his parents want him to be absolutely sure he wants to join this church, they want him to wait till he's 18. So, right now he's trying to gain his own testimony of the Book of Mormon and of this church. He reads a chapter of the Book of Mormon everyday. He's such a good example for all of us. We can all gain our own testimony of this church, of the Book of Mormon, through reading about it and praying about it. Jensen practices the piano 3 to 4 hours a day, yet he still finds time to read and pray about the Book of Mormon everyday. I know you guys can too.

From the Prophet Thomas S. Monson,
"If you do not have a firm testimony of these things, do that which is necessary to obtain one. It is essential for you to have your own testimony in these difficult times, for the testimonies of others will carry you only so far. However, once obtained, a testimony needs to be kept vital and alive through continued obedience to the commandments of God and through daily prayer and scripture study.
My dear associates in the work of the Lord, I implore each of us to prayerfully study and ponder the Book of Mormon each day. As we do so, we will be in a position to hear the voice of the Spirit, to resist temptation, to overcome doubt and fear, and to receive heaven’s help in our lives. "

So, I'd just like to invite everyone to read the Book of Mormon everyday, just a little bit, and try to figure out if it is true or not through prayer. I know if you'll do this, you'll get an answer แน่นอน.

Love you guys! Keep being awesome! Next week pday is on Wednesday, because transfers are coming up!
