So last night the mission president called. Elder Tello is being sent to Cozumel. Lucky guy. I am going to stay here in Chetumal and be companions with Elder Vasquez. He is an awesome dude and will be a great companion. This week a younger boy that Elder Tello taught while he was on splits with the zone leaders got baptized. We also finally got two of our investigators and two inactive members to come to church this week.
Elder Tello leaves for Cozumel on Saturday. It is a week before the actual transfers but he is going to train a new missionary there so he needs to go early to learn the area.
One crazy thing that happened this week was I found a spider inside my jacket. It scared the crap out of me but then I killed it with shoe. Don't worry it wasn't a big spider.
Here we don't find our investigators by going door to door. We have a lot of referals from members. It is a lot easier to teach people who are friends with the members because then they would have friends in church.
My sister, Stacy, just got a response from a question she asked Will about what his favorite part of Mexico was. This was his response. "I think that my favorite part of Mexico is how happy the people are. For me I would have a hard time finding joy with such poverty but they are happy and content with what they have." To my sister in law, Mandy, who had asked for his thoughts on a talk she had to give at church he wrote, " I think that the gospel opens a lot of different doors for blessings. I think one is the knowledge of life after death because so many lose loved ones and have no knowledge of an eternal life. I also think that sometimes we see the commandments as restrictions but they only offer us freedom. Freedom from addiction, freedom from guilt, freedom from regret." I love seeing the growth in my 18 year old in only a few short months. Missions are the best and even though I can't see my son for 2 years, I wouldn't have him any other place or doing any other thing!
