Well, another week down and more memories made. I’m a little short on time and so I’ll keep things short and sweet.
Monday: HALLOWEEN- we went to a community trunk or treat from 3-6pm we gave out over 4,000 pieces of candy with tagged invitations to our Christmas celebration. Then that night we went to the Hansen’s. Sister Hansen made us yummy taco soup and she also made lots and lots of homemade donuts for all the neighbors and their friends.
Tuesday: Was Zone Council and we made plans for how we can have success in our areas. That night we had a wonderful lesson on the Plan of Salvation with Betsy and her family. Brother Hansen was able to join us. We set 6 baptismal dates! Yayyyy!!! We are ecstatic to see this family enter into baptism and onto the path of following the Savior by living the gospel. Best day ever!!
Wednesday: We had dinner and then exchanges with Brother Ballard. He is the greatest!! Yes…he’s the one I told you last week is a cousin to Elder Ballard. He is an orthopedic surgeon and played football for UCLA. We get along great. LOL He has more energy than anyone I know even though he’s like 70-80 years old. He told me he wanted to go tracting, so we tracted. We met a guy named Sebastian who took time to listen to us. Brother Ballard fed us and shared a lot of his knowledge with us. I am so grateful for him.
Thursday: we worked hard and then after dinner with the Trueloves (they are wonderful) the son, Scott (18) came out with us. It was a good time. We hit up a couple referrals and potentials. We also tracted and found a girl (21) named Jorden who rides bulls. It was awkward because she has more guts the all three of us guys put together. LOL I’m glad I have some uncles who rode bulls, so I could relate to her craziness.
Friday night lights!! Yahoo. ha-ha We made our way to the high school football game. Some members who attends the games, told us they had people there for us to get to know and talk to. We found that to be the truth! It was about time I got to catch a little football!
Sat: We went to the famous El Dorados for dinner and it was killer! I got a torta which was so good! Afterwards, we had an exchanges with Bro Anderson. "BIG A". He’s a baller. He was in the army and joined the church in Germany. He is one of the coolest dudes ever. He bore testimony on Sunday and kept saying bruh….. Ha ha. We went and taught Betsy and her family the restoration. They committed to come to church, but then got sick and didn’t make it, BUT promised they will this next week!
Sun: We had a HUGE youth fireside put on by the mission. Justin Anderson, a lacrosse player for UNC, and Frank Jackson, a basketball player for Duke, were the speakers. It was big time. it was held in a stake center and was packed all the way to the back! They gave good insight as to how important it is to keep great standards. Lots of members and nonmembers were present.
That’s about it for now. We had a lot more of the great work happen, but I am short on time. There is lots of love coming from G town! Just remember, the church is true! The better we live the gospel…. The more blessed we will be. I promise!
