Leander, TX

Elder McKay Hunt

Roller coaster

The mission is a roller coaster. It is up and then down in literally a second. I guess a spiritual high is a real drug that can only last for so long. Just kidding guys! It's always great. There are just some tough times.

Tuesday we had a zone conference which I was honestly dreading because I feel like we are always in meetings. I'm really learning to love
these meetings though. Especially those we had this week. We got the privilege of seeing and hearing from President Slaughter twice. That
is something I could never pass up. He is amazing. We all believe that someday he is going to be an apostle. Anyways zone conference was
refreshing. It answered questions for me that I didn't even know I had. I got to know some of the other elders a little better which was
really nice not to mention the lunch was delicious. After zone conference we headed back to Leander. We ended up knocking an area we
felt would be good. The last house we knocked in this area we met a woman and she told us she wasn't interested so like we always do we
offered service and this caught her attention. She went and grabbed her husband and brought him out. She went back inside and we were able
to talk about service and ended up talking about the gospel.we shared a bit about the restoration and he was receptive. He was awesome! Then
he told us that his friend back from Oregon, where he is from, is lds and has been telling him there is an lds church here in Leander that
he should go to. Then he said I think this happened for a reason. I think you two were sent here for a purpose. How awesome is that?! I
thought it was so cool! We haven't been back to meet with him yet but we are so excited for him.

Wednesday was great. We found about 11 people that day and taught 7 lessons. It was a busy day but it was so exciting. Early in the
afternoon we met with a lady who was senile and that was quite interesting. As bad as this is it was hard to not find it comical. Later on that night We met a 19 year old young man named Aldo who
doesn't have much of a knowledge of the gospel and was very interested when we talked to him. When we gave him a Book of Mormon he was so
excited to read it later. We are actually meeting with him tonight and we can't wait. Because everyone goes to bed so early the last hour or
two of the nights are tough to proselyte. We have been experimenting with different things trying to see what will work best during those
hours. This particular night we decided to go to a park where they were having a men's flag football league and some people were playing
basketball. We had quite a success here. We taught two people a little bit and found one more that was interested. So we plan on trying that
more often.

Thursday was a little slower. We had to drive about an hour and a half south to a trainer trainee meeting. It was a really nice drive I
thought but Elder Hunt hated it. Haha I don't think I've ever seen anyone get so angry because of traffic. That meeting was wonderful. I
got to see everyone from my district at the mtc and I loved that. I had missed them like crazy and already miss them again. Again we were
able to listen to the words of president Slaughter which like I said is a great pleasure. After the meeting we went to Torchy's for the
second time and my goodness. They have the best tacos you will ever taste. And they have these things called nookies that are deep fried
cookie dough balls. Wow they're great. That night was slow we only had 2 lessons but it was still a great day.

The highlight of Saturday was service. We did service for a few people who weren't interested but accepted service. One lady named Chris
didn't expect us to actually come back and was very excited when we did. She was extremely appreciative. Afterwards she allowed us to
share a message with her and she was very involved. When we had first met here she told us we weren't going to convert her. At the end of
the restoration lesson we had with her she said. You know maybe I need to rethink this whole Mormon thing. She had felt the spirit so strong
and she started to tear up. Long story short she committed to be baptized if she felt these things were true. It was such an exciting experience. The people here are wonderful.

Sunday we experienced the reality of opposition. This is how our morning started off. One investigator had their grandpa die, another
had their mom die, one who is being baptized soon is being heckled by those close to her and almost started smoking again, another investigator snored all the way through church showing his whole crack to everyone behind man ended up on the hospital with lung
problems. One investigator never showed up. And the list goes on. It is mind blowing the things that happen to people as they strive down
the correct path. But even more amazing how those things can only strengthen us through the lord. By the end of the day elder hunt and I
were happy. We felt at peace as we asked our Heavenly Father to look over these people. Ether 12:27 And if men come unto me I will show
unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in
me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.

These people will have their faith tested. Not once have we seen it not tested. Because only after the test of our faith will truth become
known unto us. The lord is merciful. I love him and doing his work. I love you all and thank you so much for all your support. Any questions
please ask.

Signing out,
Elder Baker
