This week has been pretty fun. We have gotten to do quite a bit of service for some people around here so that's always really nice! But one of the best things of service we got to do was to go help James (a member kid) take apart his 1984 Honda xr350r. For those of you who that flew right over your head... it's a dirtbike Haha. I was really excited since he had some engine problems so he asked if we could come help him take it apart and figure out what was wrong with it. Well we took the whole engine out and stripped it down and found that the bearing on the connecting rod that rotates on the crankshaft was ceased right at top dead center. Its lucky that nothing else really went wrong other than the ceased bearing. But it was prerry fun since I haven't gotten to work on a motorcycle since my own. I honestly forget how lucky I was at home to have all of the tools that I did have. Because down here not many people have very nice tool sets... so that makes it quite interesting. But it's still fun and there is people around to borrow tools from as well. The other service that we got to do was chopping up some wood and still the garden for an older lady that lives here in Kayenta. It was pretty fun to get out of our white shirts and ties and get into our service clothes.
Well, as for the teaching it has gone really well this week. We have a member family who we have been teaching who have their nephew staying with them who isn't a member of the church but the family wants them to learn. It's really neat since they are a less active family but still want their kids to learn more. Ever since we have begun teaching them they have been doing really well at coming to church. When we went over for our lesson and dinner the other night we taught them about baptism and what it means. After we had explained what it was the boy, his name is Josh, said that he wanted to be baptized! It was really exciting to hear that he wanted to. We asked him what date he wanted to be baptized on and he decided that he wanted to be baptized on December 21st. It's really exciting for him but sadly if I leave after this transfer I will not be here for him to get baptized. But that's not what's important. It's just good to see that he wants to get baptized! This will be the 4th person I have put on date to be baptized and hopefully it wont be the 4th person to fall off date as well Haha. But everyone that we have put on date we still try to meet with and they all still have baptism in their mind they just aren't converted fully yet. But we still keep striving for them to find that conversion and actually come into the waters of baptism!
But other than that it's going pretty well here. We woke up this morning to go to the gym and the first thing we notice when we walk outside is everything has a nice little frosting of snow. That's right, it snowed down here. It will most likely all melt by this afternoon since it usually gets up to the 50-60 degree range during the day but it is nice to have some snow that's for sure!
Well it's all going really well down here and I really love it. We will see if I get to stay for Christmas and thanks giving as well!
