Well this week has been a good week. It's the last week of my first transfer into my mission and today marks the 2 month mark that I have been on my mission, isn't that crazy! This week has been pretty crazy but not really with teaching though. Our lessons have gone really well and Amanda and Devin are still doing amazing like always. This week we got to start teaching a guy that was on date a while ago but his sister talked him out of it and then he disappeared. He is a super nice guy and willing to do pretty much anything to be a member. He said he would give up tea and coffee just like that. Which down here on the rez is pretty amazing. Alot of the members still drink tea and we have to constantly remind them that it's not good. Other than that we just did a lot of contacting people that we teach and trying to get more lessons set up. Last P-day we were lucky enough to have approval from our mission president and a member in our ward who was kind enough to take us golfing over in Page. It was a lot of fun! We played 18 holes at the lake Powell golf course and you could see lake Powell from the course. It was a lot of fun and I only shot 13 over par. On Tuesday when we woke up Elder garner was feeling horrible so we ended up staying in most of the day so he could feel better. I'm not sure if I've mentioned this in any of my other letters but down here volley ball is super big so we have some young adults in the ward that usually have us come and play volleyball with them at least once a week. They are all really good and from when I first got here to now my skill in the volley ball has increased 10 fold Haha. It's really fun getting to know them all and getting to meet a lot of people in the community that way too. One of the really fun things we got to do this week was be judges for the chili/salsa/fry bread cook-off. It was a lot of fun and we got to eat a lot of really good food! They also had an arts festival going on at the same time and had a "rez ride" competition too. Basically it was supposed to be the trashiest car that still ran. While we were walking around they asked us if we would judge that too, well we said yes. The sad part is that I was expecting super trashy cars and the cars that were there weren't actually that bad Haha it was still a lot of fun to get to talk with people about cars though.
Well since it's the end of the transfer it means everything changes around. The only changes that are happening for me is that I will be losing Elder Garner since he will be going out to window rock to be a zone leader. Other than that I'm staying here in Kayenta! I'm really excited to stay here and see Amanda and Devin get baptized and I also just love the community down here. Everyone is pretty nice and very welcoming. Sorry this one is shorter than the others but I got pretty much all I needed in there Haha
Pictures (who are we kidding, half of you are only here for these anyways 😂)
