Elder Cottam

Week 16

Hey all!

Well, it sounds like everyone is doing really well at home.

It’s crazy that Mason will get the priesthood way soon! It will be so cool to hear his experiences with it and how he feels. I’ll have to talk to him about it when I call home. It’s so crazy that he is already that old! It seems like yesterday he was just getting baptized!

I’m not sure what to think about that change they made. It’s cool but I don't know if some 11 year olds understand what they are getting. Especially here in Africa. The kids don't understand as well as people back home. It will be cool for Brady and Mason to get those experiences together. I remember not wanting Brady to come with me, but then after I thought about it, it was kind of fun to get to be together. Especially when we got older and started becoming better friends. It was fun to mess around together. Brady doesn't realize it now just like i didn't, but he will think it is fun eventually.

This week I got my new companion! I'm sorry to say it but I’ll be honest, I won’t miss Elder Marcusen. That guy is something else! My new companion is Elder Cottam from Orem but moved to Escalante for his senior year. He's the same age as me and he will go home in July. It’s way fun because we can share experiences that are really similair and stuff like that. He wants to hunt ducks more when he's home. I guess I found another duck huntin friend haha. I can’t wait! It will be really fun! The best thing is we have a lot of fun but we also work hard while we’re enjoying. We have a goal to baptize at least 8 people together. We’ll be able to do it. We have already gotten two free meals together and we have only been together for like 4 days. The area should start picking up and coming to life now.

Saturday night I took my companion to see the areas missionary mom and she fed us rice and stew. It was really good!! Sunday we ate in Teshie 3 area at a ladys house too.

The baptism was supposed to be Saturday morning at 8. We went and the Palooka family came too. We waited but the bishop never showed up. We called him and apparently he forgot so we moved it to Sunday morning. It happened Sunday as planned. It was so awesome to see the excitement on both Regina and Balisas face when they came out of the font!! It’s an experience I’ll never forget because I watched them become so much more brighter and happier then they already were. I can’t wait to get some more baptisms!

Other than that I can’t think of anything else to talk about. I’m excited to start getting more baptisms! Hopefully we should have a lot more coming in now with someone who likes to talk to the people and who I like to be around.
