Week 47: In the sweat of thy face…

Genesis 3:19 if Adam was Gluten-free:
The Lord- "In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread... "
Adam- I understand the principle of work ethic that you are trying to establish, but is it possible to request a rice cake substitute?

Hello everyone! This week has been the usual amount of great and busy. I'll give you the quick rundown:

-we had zone conference! It was wonderful, of course. We've started a new Book of Mormon reading challenge as a mission. I love reading the Book of Mormon! We also talked a lot about a new English teaching program that allows us to share the gospel a lot more freely. Way excited!

-We had a companion exchange in Nara, and I was with the wonderful Elder Lamb. He's a great elder, and he's awesome at Japanese despite only being out 3 transfers (approximately 5 months). He's the man! We taught a lesson and did a lot of finding. We talked to some really great people and found a couple people with some interest. It was a blast.

-Kawajou choro and I went to the small little part of our area called iga-kambe and housed pretty much the entire town. News spread pretty fast that we were there, so a few people rejected us from down the street before we could even make it to their house. However, we were able to hand out two copies of the Book of Mormon.

-my Japanese is never better than when I'm teaching a lesson with our 85 year old, hard-of-hearing investigator. I speak slowly, clearly, and deliberately. I also project very well in those lessons. Just by talking more slowly I increased my ability to communicate in japanese by like three fold. We had a discussion on the gospel, science, astronomy, and the theory of evolution, and I had almost no problems answering his questions. So, I discovered that my biggest problem with Japanese right now is that I haven't been following the Lord’s counsel that "all these things are done in wisdom and order; for it is not requisite that a man should [speak] faster than" he is able. もっとゆっくり話しましょう!

This week I'd like to share a few quotes from the Gospel according to Kawajou:

"You are not problem if your mind headed to heavenly father. If people not interested it not problem if your mind headed to Heavenly Father" - Book of Kawajou 2:1

"I miss primary. I miss primary forever. I want to be back child." Guide to the Kawajou 3pg

And this last gem came when we were housing. He was talking to the mother of a young boy through the inter-phone and the conversation suddenly ended. I couldn't hear what she said, or why she hung up, so I asked my companion and he said "Her son brings poop... Suddenly... Without warning". Just plain hilarious.

Anyway, thats about it for this week. Love you all.

God bless.
All the best.
Ttyl, in a bit!

With best regards,
Bayless choro
