Week #11: Blessing and Pizza and 14 Metres of Fun!
Malo e lelei
Sorry I didn’t write last week the internet was off here which stunk. I got really sick on p day last week and had a 102 fever and had to stay home for 2 days. On one day I woke up to President Tioune and President Makai and his wife all standing over me. It was the worst!!! I was sweating a ton from the fever and I woke up to them staring at me!!!! He really loves all of his missionaries. He stopped by to see how I was doing and gave me a blessing. He is an amazing man!!!
I got to watch general conference in English and that was so nice!!! General conference has never been so short ahahah. I didn’t want it to end cuz I knew I had to go listen to Tongan again ahaha. The work here is really slow but my comp and I keep at it and we finally found another investigator. It made me so happy! I hope he works out. We have one of the hardest areas in Tonga and the work is so slow but we found one and I’m so happy. Our area has two churches, Wesliana (Methodists) and LDS. Everybody in our area is one or the other and Wesliana hate us!!!
Also, Mata Ma'a Tonga started their rugby team and it is nuts here!! Tongans have so much pride. Everybody has flags up!! A whole gas station was green but they painted it red for Mata Ma'a Tonga. Everybody has at least one flag on their car and everyone plays Mata Ma'a Tonga's song and it’s literally crazy here.
I had to teach Sunday school twice these last two weeks and gave a talk without them telling me I had to do it. When they see the missionaries and they don’t want to teach or talk they just go and tell us we have to!! It’s literally the worst. They are all so lazy!! I’m not going to church early anymore or they will make me speak ahahha. Things here are good though. I’m getting the hang of everything and over time I’ll be a pro!!!
I love this gospel. It never stops amazing me and I see blessings in my life and in other’s lives everyday out here.
Love you all!

Conversation with Tanner
Lisa: How did your shoes get taken?
Tanner: When they are off my feet they put them on and walk away.
Lisa: Don’t take them off.
Tanner: They got taken when I was sleeping.
Lisa: At your house?
Tanner: yep
Lisa: Who just comes in and does that??
Tanner: It’s all good I only need one pair. They take them cuz they know I have more. It’s just the kids. They want to wear them to school.
Lisa: They don’t have shoes?
Tanner: Not that type. They all want Jesus sandals. It’s different out here. You’d just have to experience it. If you have extra of something soon you’ll have none of it.
Lisa: So crazy! I just don’t understand.
Tanner: I’m starting to understand.
Lisa: Are you getting use to things or is everything really weird?
Tanner: I’m getting used to it. I’ve come to terms with camping for two years. The members cook over a fire every night. I always smell like smoke. I’m always dirty, never clean. Just feels like camping.
Lisa: How are the spiders?
Tanner: So gross. Every night I kill a lot and lots of huge cockroaches. The sad part is I’m getting used to them crawling around everywhere. Sometimes I’m too lazy to kill them and that is SAD.
Lisa: Do you like the ward members?
Tanner: Yeah, I love them and they love me.
Lisa: That's good.
Tanner: When they found out I was sick they got me pizza and tons of stuff.
