Root Canal, Happy Easter
Well much happened within the week, I am currently coming from my first session of a root canal. My head has had serious pain throughout the week, so there was no option. I was able to last the first session so hopefully I can get through two more. I will go back on Thursday. I am grateful that it didn't affect our time proselyting this week though, just couldn't really sleep at night. But there is sunshine in everyday so I am pressing forward haha.
First, we were able to witness so many tender mercies this week. Brother Samuel was an example of it. We had 5 baptisms this week. Including Samuel and the rest of Sister Lydia's family. We also baptized Lovia, a wonderful 18 year old girl. The service was beautiful, and it seriously was such a blessing. I am so grateful for the success that the Lord is allowing us to have in Kwamo. We received a call from Mission President that they might be breaking off part of the Kwamo ward to develop a Branch in Aprade. The growth is incredible. All that said, I was sad to hear the news of my companion leaving. Elder Akharia will be going to my old area in Tamale, Education Ridge. I was so excited for him, yet sad. And as for me, I will be receiving a new companion, Elder Burdge. He is a Timpview football kid, not to far from Lehi. I am so excited to get to serve with him, he was my District Leader when I first came into the mission field, so we know each other very well already.
So transfers will be on Wednesday. It will be a busy day. With Elder Akharia leaving, it seems like so many members want to feed us, so we have been having to "endure" through all this food members seem to provide. But all in all, Kwamo is good and I am so grateful to be here.
My thought this week is centered on this Easter Sunday. I want to share an experience that changed my life, yet I am sure my Mother thought nothing of it. I remember many years ago, when I was around 12 years old, I was letting my mom know what I wanted for Easter, so caught up in candy and toys. As I recall thoughts of that Easter Sunday, I do not remember one thing I got, maybe besides I am sure I got candy. But I do remember something that shaped who I am today. After Church my mom called all us kids together and had us pull out our scriptures. We were all a little loud and I am sure my mom thought it was a failed attempt. Anyways she managed to read us the passage of Alma 11:40-46. She then shared her testimony. I cannot explain in word the influence it had on me. Before I went to bed that night, I read, and read. I prayed and felt at such peace. I learned 2 things from this event.1) The true meaning of Easter, and 2) My mother's firm testimony of Jesus Christ and his life. A little gathering of my mother made such a huge difference. I am so grateful for that moment and I will always cherish it. I hope that we can all remember and emulate the Saviour this Easter. I love all you, and hope that you will all enjoy this Easter. Let the light of Christ shine in us, and let us bring others to the light.
