MIRACLES HAPPEN!!
MIRACLES HAPPEN!!!!!!!! Earlier this week, I was looking for my USB (storage drive), because some missionaries were wanting to get some files from me and I realized I did not know where it was. I have a TON of stuff on my USB, so I searched everywhere and just gave up and figured I would never find it. Well, I came into the library this morning and asked if they could check to see if it had been turned in, and it was here! I must have left in here 2 or 3 weeks ago, because I haven't used it since then. I was very excited!!
This morning, we also found out what will be happening on Wednesday for transfers. I will be staying here and Elder Hansen will be leaving to head to Broomfield. We already had a pretty good idea that I would be staying and he would be leaving, but I found out my new companion will be an Elder Hills. No clue who he is, but I am excited to meet him and especially excited that I am staying. There is still a lot here that I feel I need to do.
So, moving on to this past week. We had an AWESOME week!! We contacted a lot of people and found quite a few new people to teach!
Toni is still going great! Their family is just hilarious, but I love them! Kay, one of the Grandmothers, apparently thought that I was cold all the time so she knitted me a huge blanket. I was a little surprised when she gave it to me, but I was nonetheless grateful and loved it! It is really cool to see the gospel continue to help their family. They have a plethora of problems, but little by little, we can see as they read more and pray more that they are drawing closer to Heavenly Father. This week we will be finalizing Toni’s baptismal program, because that is coming up next week.
I can’t remember if I mentioned Melanie and Eric before, but they are a couple that we are visiting. They were meeting with missionaries before, but I had not seen them until earlier this week. So, we had dinner with them Saturday night, and we had an awesome lesson and they both came to Church on Sunday. We ended up having 6 investigators at church. 5 in one ward and 1 in the other. It was kind of tough to try and balance all of them and help introduce them to ward members, but it went well! Eric has grown up with members, and he knows a lot about the church. Melanie is very strong Catholic, but she feels like there is more out there and so she is just soaking up everything we share with her. We are hoping to set a baptismal date with them this coming week.
In the other ward, there is this really-great family. Steph is a member, but hasn't gone to church since she was like 14. Dan, her husband, is not a member. Missionaries have met with them before, but were kind of awkward and didn't set expectations. It was kind of confusing. We had dinner with them this past week, and we talked to them about the temple and being together forever as a family. They asked us to start teaching them the lessons, so we are hoping to help them progress! Steph showed up at church on Sunday with her oldest daughter, but Dan didn’t come because their little boy had been up all night, so he stayed home with the two little ones. We are meeting with them tomorrow, and we hope to have a great lesson!
The work continues to go great. I have been sick this past week, but that hasn't stopped us much. I have just been pumping myself full of vitamin C and haven’t slowed down too much. The members here are great, and they help out however they can!
On Sunday (yesterday) we made a deal with Autumn, Toni’s daughter who just turned 12, that if she would bear her testimony in Fast & Testimony meeting, then we would too and we would bring her chocolate. She got up and bore such a cute little testimony. She has slight Autism, but she did a wonderful job! I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to work with people so closely, and that I have a chance to see their testimonies grow. Missions are tough, but they are so worth it!
I am so grateful for all of you and all that you do for me! I will close with a scripture that I read this past week. I was thinking about the lesson I had with Cole and Matt. I think I mentioned that lesson where they just wanted to argue. One of the last things I said to them was that I didn't think they knew what it meant to truly believe. As I read this scripture from the Book of Mormon, it immediately took me back to my conversation with them.
Mosiah 27:25-26
25 - And the Lord said unto me: Marvel not that all mankind, yea, men and women, all nations, kindreds, tongues and people, must be born again; yea, born of God, changed from their carnal and fallen state, to a state of righteousness, being redeemed of God, becoming his sons and daughters;
26 - And thus they become new creatures; and unless they do this, they can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God.
This really is the whole point. To truly believe, we must be changed. That is what the Gospel Jesus Christ does for us; it changes us! I know that this is true! I am grateful that I can share this with others!
