Christmas Week Letter

I am not going to write much because the library is packed and there are frustrated citizens wanting computers! I will share one experience. We have begun teaching a guy named Ian, who much like Emiley – he’s had his heart softened by God and is searching for the truth. The lessons have been amazing so far and he is on date for the 21st of January. He is a great guy who is sincere in his desire to find truth. He opened-up to us about what has brought him to the point he is at now, as he was never raised with religion but is willing to change his life to enter into the baptismal covenant with God. I will continue to update you on him.

Many of our other investigators are doing well! We have several who are praying for answers to some pretty big questions so we are praying for them as well! A lot of our investigators are leaving town for the holiday break, so if we stay here, the next few weeks with be interesting. Also, we find out transfer information tomorrow. I am praying to stay here, I feel like there is more I need to do, especially with one guy in the ward who this past week opened-up to me a lot about struggles he is having. We are spending Christmas eve with his family so we will get a chance to talk some more.

The last really cool thing is our investigator Yao Hao. He is from China and is the nicest guy and is reading from The Book of Mormon! It is so great to teach him, although Elder Layton and I found we need a LOT of improvement on teaching super simply. We have been practicing that a lot lately!

Anyway, I am going to cut it short, but know that I love you all and am grateful for your support! I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am so fortunate to get to teach and testify everyday! I was with a missionary in our Zone this past week, who is still in his first transfer. We were talking and he turned to me and said, “Elder Richards I don’t want to go home! This is the best time of my life! I admit that there are many other things in life that I need to do after my mission, but I’m really enjoying being on this full-time mission.” I agree with this new missionary; it is truly such a privilege to be here!

I love you all! Merry Christmas!
Elder Richards
