I only have 30 minutes to email today because Elder Layton and I did some shopping, and we need to practice as a Zone for a song we are singing on Thursday.
To put it simply... it was a TOUGH week. Everyone we are teaching is in the middle of Finals, so all of their time was spent studying so not very many could meet with us. On top of that, as we tried to find more people to teach, all of them were studying... which meant they didn't want to talk with us..... However, finals end this week so we have a lot of appointments planned for the end of the week, so hopefully it goes well!
Did I mention we had a bird in our apartment? If I did, I apologize for repeating it. A week and a half ago we woke up and there was a bird chilling in our apartment. We trapped it in a room, because we had to leave, and it died in there while we were gone :/ It must have run into the window or something. That was just a random side note.
Elder Layton and I sang yesterday in Sacrament meeting. Two girls from the YSA Ward sang with us, and the Elders Quorum President was supposed to. However, he texted us 15 minutes after sacrament meeting started saying sorry, he slept in.... Sacrament starts at 1pm.... oh young people these days. It was OK though, the 4 of us sang and we sounded great! We only practiced together once, so luckily it went well. We also switched our accompanist the morning of because the woman who said she could, couldn’t be there. Luckily, one of the guys in our ward is AWESOME and practiced and was able to play it because he is amazing at piano and it wasn’t too hard of a piece.
I hope you know I love all of you, and I greatly appreciate all your support! My last thought comes from our Priesthood lesson yesterday. It started out by talking about President Howard W. Hunter and the wonderful humility he had in his service. It talked about the motives behind our service, and whether we serve to get noticed, or for the right reasons. They shared a poem, and one particular line stood out to me: "Art thou working for them, or for me?"
I know that this is the key to feeling at peace within ourselves. When we do things to serve God and out of the pure intentions of our heart, it won’t matter if we don’t get recognition or if we are overlooked. We will have the peace and happiness that God offers us!
