Mission = Miracles

Missions=Miracles.... That pretty much sums it all up.

Seriously... Miracles after miracles after miracles. Elder Layton and I have been so privileged to see many miracles here and this week was no exception.

I'll start off by saying that things with Emiley are as great as ever. She has told her whole family and everyone reacted better than she thought they would. Both her Father, Mother, and some of her grandparents will be at her baptism this Saturday, which is GREAT news! I don't know if I mentioned, but last week we went to dinner with Emiley and her roommate because her roommate wanted to ask us what we did all day. She asked a bunch of questions, and then asked why we can’t drink coffee. Instead of answering, I saw a beautiful door in front of me and told her that we could explain, but it would make far more sense if we started from the beginning and explained some more about the church before we explain the Word of Wisdom. So we are teaching her later this week and we have high hopes for that lesson!

Wednesday night, Elder Layton had to go to the bathroom, so we went to Taco Bell, but the bathroom was locked and only for customers. I must admit I got REAL annoyed. I was backing Elder Layton up (Anytime we back up the car one person stands behind the car to make sure we don’t hit anything). I turned around and see the side of a guys face who was walking by. As soon as I turned around he turned so I couldn't see him. It was dark out so I could hardly see him, but the Spirit hit me HARD, so I yelled "Hey haven’t we talked with you before??" He hesitated for a few seconds then turned and said, “yah I think so.” I responded "Yah your name is Kelly." We had talked with him a month ago at a bus stop for only 2 minutes. We had gotten his phone number, but he hadn't answered any of our calls, so right there in the parking lot at 8:30 pm, we taught him a lesson and set up an appointment for the next day. I was skeptical if he would show up, but he DID! We were on exchanges, so Elder Dale and I finished teaching the whole message of the Restoration. Right as we talked about the Book of Mormon, he said he had to take a 5-minute break and think about things. When he came back in, he said he was spent and needed to end the lesson and set up another lesson for next week. Then at 9 that night, I got a call from him. We were in a lesson, so he left a message and told us how all day he felt so good ever since he met with us and he wants to meet again as soon as possible. We have taught him the last 2 days. He says he wants to join the Mormon church, because he thought he was the only one in Boulder who was committed to Christ, but he sees the way we are and likes it. Now we are trying to help him develop a true testimony of the Doctrine of Christ. Either way, things are going wonderfully!

Here’s the last miracle I will share, only because I need to hurry. We were about to go to a pumkin patch and corn maze today for our preparation day. I was flipping through our area book where we have all the records of people who have been taught (we have a TON of records! Most of them are bogus because it’s a college town. People come and go all the time) I saw one record which caught my eye. A guy had been taught once 3 years ago and then told the missionaries he wasn't interested. I felt like I needed to call him, so even though that seemed fruitless, I called anyway. He answered and told me he lived in California, paused, and then said, “that doesn’t mean I am not interested though. I was just thinking about you guys the other day, and wondering how I could get a hold of you. I tried looking up a ward out here but only found Spanish congregations. I am moving back to Boulder in December. Can I meet up with you guys then?............. WHAT!?!?! #MIRACLE
So I asked if I could find some missionaries out there for him to talk with until he comes home and now they are getting ahold of him!

I'll close with my testimony that Heavenly Father FORGETS NO ONE! He is mindfull of each and everyone of us. One of the members of our Stake Presidency said Saturday night in Stake Conference, "The Lords intention is to lose no one." I testify that this is true. He loves each and every one of us. I am so grateful to be here doing the Lord’s work. When we tell people on the street what we do as missionaries, they say "Man that is TOUGH! How do you do it?" I always laugh because really, when we understand what we are doing, it isn't tough at all. Sure sometimes we miss our families and loved ones, and we worry about our future. But I know whom I am serving here. I know what my service is helping others to receive, and I wouldn't trade this time here for anything.

I love all of you and appreciate all the ways you have helped me!
