I am going to keep this email short, because Elder Layton and I are going hiking with a few people and we have to drive awhile to get to the spot. Good thing our stake boundaries go wayyyy into the mountains! ;)
The best news is we just got the word that Elder Layton and I are staying together in the Mountain View YSA ward for another transfer! We are both super excited about this!! The work has EXPOLDED this past week! We have been working our butts off, and it has paid off.
To give a quick update, We are teaching a girl named Emily. She is the epitome of golden. She was prepared wayyy before we met her, and she came to us! She will be baptized this month, and it is AWESOME to see her growing.
We also have two other people that we are teaching that seem pretty sincere and are learning pretty well. Neither of them have a date for baptism yet, but we are hoping to get them prepared this next month as well.
We continue to find new people, because we never rest! It sounds silly but that’s what missionary work is all about. Choosing to not take a break. The members see us working hard, and it is getting them excited about it too! This past week, we only taught 1 lesson that we did not have a member from the ward there with us! It was crazy!
Last night, we found and taught a lesson to these two early 20s girls who both just barely had a baby. Their husbands work together. The lesson was crazy cool, and the spirit was sooo strong. We are hoping that we can meet with their husbands soon and hopefully pass them off to the missionaries that are in the family ward.
Last thing that was really cool was the growth of the missionaries in the Boulder Zone. One missionary told me that after the training I gave in Zone Meeting a few weeks ago, he deleted all of the music on his USB that he didn't think was appropriate. Man I was so excited for him! That is what growth is all about! Being willing to listen to the spirit and make any changes that are needed. Another Elder who struggles with being appropriate involving girls told us last night that after conference last night he ripped up some pictures of girls that he had hanging in his room that were distracting. This gospel is a gospel of CHANGE! I love it!
Conference was literally AMAZING for me! So much needed revelation and inspiration. Needless to say, I have MANY things I will be working on and also just implementing into my life. I received a lot of hope to continue pressing forward when things get tough.
Last thing I will end with is from my studies this morning, but fits in perfect with what I have been learning recently. It comes from Alma 43:1. The last sentence is "And Alma, also, himself could not rest, and he also went forth."
May I propose just one small change to the scripture, Alma WOULD NOT rest. He choose not to rest. Man that hit me this morning like a fire to my heart! We have a missionary in our Zone right now who is going home on Wednesday, and he is content to just ride out his time. He has moments where I know he wants to work, but he allows himself to choose not to. He is an amazing guy and a good elder, but he is content. I refuse to ever allow myself to do that. I know that there are times when we all feel like we need a rest, sometimes we need one. Other times we need to push through and give our all. I always come back to a quote from a video, "I want to give my all to Him, because He gave His all to me."
I love you all!
