Another week has come and gone in a blink. It is scary how fast time seems to go while serving a mission. I don't know if it is because the days blend together or what, but it goes by far too quickly!

This past week has been very tough. For starters, I got sick to start the week. Not really sure what I had, but I was miserable all week. The mission nurse told me to stay inside, which of course we didn't do.. I went home early on Wednesday and feel asleep at 6 and pretty much slept through the night. The next day I wasn't feeling much better, but we went out and worked. Talking with people and teaching them about the restoration is not the easiest thing to do when you feel like puking, however, I have now effectively learned how to do that, so we are all good! I am finally starting to feel better, but it comes and goes in waves so hopefully it is all done!

We lost a lot of investigators this past week. People who just were not sincere or who weren't willing to make progress, so we spent a LOT of time walking around talking to people. We taught a lot of lessons to random people on the street, but not very many of them were interested in learning more. We did, however, have two different people that we brought to church this week, and have return appointments with them! It was such a great meeting with Elder Christofferson! The new temple president of the Fort Collins Temple was there with his wife as well. They all said some wonderful things. Both of the people we brought had a lot of questions and loved the meeting, so we will find more of their questions this week at our lessons with them! I was able to talk to both Elder Christofferson and his wife after the meeting and it was such a neat little conversation!

The tough thing that we have been realizing is that we cannot just expect to find people who want to hear more every single time we go out. We need to have patience and remember that our job is to simply do what the Lord asks us to do, and trust and know that we are doing His will and not ours. As we have let that sink in, it has made it easier to be patient when we don't see the success we would like to see. Yesterday we taught 6 lessons to random students, and a few of them were pretty promising. We are hoping to see some of the fruits this coming week.

We had Zone Conference with our Mission President this past week. It was, as always, a wonderful uplifting meeting in which we all learned a lot. Elder Layton and I have both gotten a lot of stuff lately that we are wanting to implement into our companionship and area. Have I mentioned lately how much I love Elder Layton??? Man he is awesome! I am so lucky to be serving with him again!

I can’t think of anything else from this week. In 2 days we will be holding our Zone Meeting. I will be talking about our purpose. I mentioned this last week, and it is still really on my mind. It is so important for us to know what our purpose is in everything we do. As missionaries, our purpose is to learn to do whatever the Lord asks us to do, regardless of whether we want to or not. We are here to invite others to come unto Christ and to help them do that in any way that we can. Sometimes that is difficult, but it is what we signed up for. I am so exciting to look back after 2 years and know that I gave everything that I had. I am very excited to help the other missionaries realize this. When we truly understand why we are here, disobedience goes away, because there is no need to do anything against the rules. Problems dissolve, because we have a goal and we have focus. It is exciting for me to help other missionaries gain that goal and focus!

I love you all and appreciate all of your support!

Elder Richards
