There's a snake in my church
So I will start off by telling the highlight of the week. Elder McBride and I went to the Church to make a few copies, and we start walking across the parking lot and I look down and guess what I saw?? A snake.... sitting in the middle of the parking lot. So naturally we opened our trunk and emptied out our commissary box. We used the snow scraper and put the snake in the box. It was just a bull snake, so he was mean but harmless. Needless to say, we basically saved the lives of all the small Mormon children in Colorado. Just kidding.. but regardless it was cool
So it was a cool week. We did a TON of service again which was wild. We have so many people who love talking with us, and they are so close to becoming investigators. We are trying to help them realize that they like having us around because they can feel the Spirit. Anyway, keep all of them in your prayers, especially Steff. She is soooooo close and by far one of my favorite people on earth. Seriously she is amazing!
We also taught an atheist man this week, who isn't actually atheist, but rather he is agnostic. When we first met him, he seemed very uninterested, but the lesson we had with him this week went awesome. He seemed like he actually wants to know if there is a God, but just doesn't know if it is possible to know if God is real. We are seeing him again tonight, so hopefully we can have another good lesson.
We have started doing Insanity (an exercise program) with our ward mission leader, who happens to be one of the coolest guys on earth, and boy that is kicking our butts! We wake up an hour early to go over there. I like waking up at 5:30 so I don't mind. My companion on the other hand, struggles with that. Before we became companions, he would sleep in everyday, but he has asked me to help him change that habit. We also found out one of our ward missionaries has some cross fit equipment in his basement and he was pretty impressed with everything I could do in my shirt and tie.. So now we are going to start going over there a couple times a week. #GodisReal #Blessed
It is still tough in this area to make sure that we are always being productive and not just staying busy. Members love us and sometimes they want us to just hangout, so it is a balancing act of being kind, but also realizing that we are here to do work, not hang out. We have had to put a stop to quite a few houses that have been "hang out houses."
I feel super lucky to be serving in the area. There are so many amazing Elders and Sisters that I am privileged to learn from. The training that I gave at our district meeting went wonderfully! We were already a little bit over time, but Elder Brinkerhoff wanted me to go last and take as much time as I need. I definitely felt the spirit as I gave the training and know that what I prepared was what The Lord wanted me to teach. It was cool, because I also definitely learned from what I was teaching!
So fun story... we are sitting down emailing right now and this random guy just walked by us and said "I thought I felt the Spirit in here" and kept right on walking... So that was funny.
I love this scripture, because it shows how through our little efforts to be obedient and make small corrections in our life, we can become a powerful force for God in His plan for this work, and when we do, we can sit back and trust that God will magnify our efforts and miracles will happen. We need to have faith!
One thing I am continuing to learn is that truly, faith covers and removes any fear. Time and time again I have seen that in the lives of the people we are working with, but also in my own life. Sometimes, I just need to choose to have faith instead of allowing my fears to control me.
I love you all! I hope you continue to develop your personal faith, as it is something we must all do and will be benefited much for it.
