Things I love.. Sandy, Hay with Steff, Elder Brinkerhoff, service, Brother Forsyth

This has been an AWESOME week!
We had an awesome Zone Pday last week and had a lot of fun.

This week we made contact with several less-active members, and we began to teach them! One that I am super excited about is Sandy Gardner. She is a wonderful lady and we had two AMAZING lessons with her this week. She definitely felt the spirit both times! The second lesson was after we did some service for their family and we were able to teach her non-member husband and daughter as well! We don’t know how well it was received with the family so we will see soon. Unfortunately, they are leaving for a 10 day vacation which in missionary time is an eternity... but we are meeting with Sandy on Wednesday before they leave. It is so amazing the way the Lord knows who these people need to connect with to make an impact and it is awesome to be able to see the Lord use us for certain people.

Speaking of making connections. Steff... She is a rockstar. We asked a ward member, who lives out in the country, if she knew anyone who had horses and would need some service. She suggested a lady who is friends with several members and knows the church. When we stopped at her house she was not very happy to see us. I quickly explained that we were not there to teach her but that I was hoping she would need some help moving some hay around. She told us that she would actually need some help later that week, so we went back and helped her move hay. For a 60 yr old, she is a TANK! Boy she could outwork many of the missionaries out here! She almost kept up with me and my companion! After that we had some awesome conversation and became friends with her. We were able to snag an invite to Sunday dinner with her mormon friends who just so happened to be the former Bishop in the ward, in which we are currently serving. Turns out they had a lot of family over for Father’s Day but we got invited by the only non member there! We taught a lesson to everyone there, specifically to Steff and she loved it! It was pretty traditional and not necessarily pertaining to specifically the Church but it was a start! Kippy (Steff’s member friend) came up to us and said she felt we were the missionaries who were going to make the difference for Steff. Steff plans on having us help her with a lot more things and is much more open to talking spiritual and gospel-related things. It is awesome to again see the way the Lord works! She lost her husband a few years ago, which was really tough for her so we are praying that we will be able to help her understand and feel the blessings of Eternal Families!

We had exchanges again this week, and I told Elder Brinkerhoff, our District Leader, that I had dibs on going with him so he came over to our Ponderosa area and we went to work! This guy is awesome!! He is finishing up his last transfer before going home and he is a stud! He was one of the Assistants to the President when I arrived in the mission, and he is an awesome missionary. It was cool because I was able to learn a lot from him and he asked my advice for when he goes home. We were both able to teach each other! He really is a great guy and someone I hope I continue to stay in touch with after the mission! The coolest part of the day was as we were heading out after lunch, we were walking up the stairs to leave and the spirit stopped me and prompted me to bring service clothes. I stopped quickly and turned back and we got the clothes. The first person we talked to was a less-active member who hadn’t come to church in years. We were able to help him take down a fence at his house for a few hours and began teaching him after. If we hadn't helped him, then he would not have been willing to let us teach him and definitely couldn't have done this service in our shirts and ties. It is just amazing the way the Spirit can guide us in the smallest of things!

Lastly, Brother Forsyth, our ward mission leader.. He is just a stud.. I love him. We woke up at 5:30 to go workout at his house this morning. We are going to start doing that whenever he isn’t out of town on business. I love Colorado.. I love Parker.. I love the work, and let me tell you... it is WORK!

I pray for you all! Thank you for your support!
