Parker Colorado

Companion

Elder McBride

1st week in Parker, Co..... again.

So I am back in Parker! It is weird, I still miss Arvada and think about all the people there, especially Anthony and the Scotts, but I like being back here in Parker.

So far the welcome has been amazing. We had a breakfast with the Stake President, President Lyman, last Saturday. The man is amazing!! He is so focused on missionary work. I could see it in his eyes as he talked with us that the work has really weighed on him. We are excited to be here and work with him and all of the other members in this Stake to bring this work forward!

We were able to meet the Bishopric and our ward mission leader last week and on Sunday during ward council, both our Bishop and our ward mission leaders teared up as they bore their testimony to the group of how the spirit witnessed to them that we are the right missionaries for this ward. It is awesome to see members so passionate about sharing the gospel, and we are super excited for the opportunity to serve here!

Unfortunately we walked into an interesting situation here. The area book, which is the record of who has been taught and what they have been taught, was not as helpful as we would have hoped. A lot of information was missing and a lot of information was incorrect. On top of that, there has not been very many people taught in this area for the last few years. So we are kind of starting from scratch. We found out that there has been a lot of things happening here with missionaries that should not have been so a lot of members have lost quite a bit of trust for the missionaries so we have a big job ahead to rebuild that trust! We are off to a great start though!

So my new companion is Elder McBride. He is from Pittsburgh and a pretty cool kid. We are pretty open with each other so I think we will be able to work well together. We don't fit together perfectly, but that is just opportunity for us to both grow!

We are living with an elderly widow named Glena Berg. She is super nice and so it will be fun living with her. It is a little bit of an adjustment living in someone else’s house, but it helps to make sure that we are polite and cleanly. The place is pretty nice and we have plenty of room. It is a little tough getting used to one bathroom again, but I can handle that!

I found out one of the couples that we tracted into in Arvada has started to investigate the Church! That was such a miracle! Finding them was literally divine inspiration, and I was super happy to hear about that!

One of my favorite families from the Newlin Meadows ward has moved into this ward, so I get to see them again! I was super excited about that! The dad of the family was one that I mentioned I really liked and I could tell he loved us as missionaries. Their house isn’t done yet, but I know he is excited to have us over soon!

Not a whole lot else has happened, but I love being here. It is going to take a lot of work, but we are ready and willing to work!

This morning in my study I was reading and came across Mosiah 1:5. It says so clearly, if it was not for the scriptures, The Book of Mormon, people would dwindle in unbelief. That holds true to us today! We simply cannot hope to stay faithfull, to remain firm and steadfast in our faith, if we do not feast upon these words for guidance in our lives. I encourage you all to recommit yourself to the study of The Book of Mormon and to lean upon these sacred words. I promise you that as you do, you will understand the mysteries of the Kingdom of God.

I love you all! I pray for you daily and appreciate your prayers in my behalf and on the behalf of missionaries everywhere!
