Time goes by way too fast.. I don't even know where the weeks go. I have no perception. Everyday goes by so quickly, it is crazy!
This week has been super good! For starters, Elder Laney and I seem to have worked out all of the kinks and are starting to get along really well. I have realized that sometimes he lets his pride affect our communication so when I can see that starting, I just joke around and stay super happy and really quickly he opens back up. It is helping a ton. I really love this kid. I know he probably won’t admit it, but I can tell he likes asking me for advice on his future, since I am ancient compared to most missionaries and have a bit more experience.
Last Monday, our zone got together and played Frisbee in the rain. It was cold but soooo much fun! I really love all the missionaries that I am serving around! 6 of us Elders went to lunch at this Chinese place that costs $1.35 per scoop of food. And each scoop is the size of 3 scoops at any other restaurant. It is nicknamed Poop Scoop. I won’t say any more about that.
This week was pretty tough for lessons. We had several cancel that we were really excited about. But we also have a ton of lessons planned for the next couple of weeks, so we are praying for them!
We found a woman named Brittney, who is looking for a church and said she would love to come and tour the church and have a lesson there. She has 2 kids and her brother just kind of dropped off his 2 kids and took off so she is really busy. We are trying to figure out a good time to stop by.
We also met a woman named Karen, who was a little bit drunk when we met her, but we helped her set up a tent because she didn’t know how. That was an interesting experience. We had a nice conversation afterwards and we are going back soon to teach her. I have a really good feeling about both Brittney and Karen, so we are praying for them!
Anthony.... that kid is such a Character! Just kidding I love the kid. Things are going really well with him. As I mentioned in a previous letter, we challenged him to read the Book of Mormon in the next 40 days. He and Stephanie are taking it pretty seriously! I love it! I know that he still has a lot of questions, but anyone who doesn't have questions isn't studying the scriptures and the doctrine enough. I promised him that as he read, the questions would little by little all go away and be answered in a way suitable to him. I am excited to see how it goes! They are totally going to get married and all I am saying is I better be the best man! ;)
We also had Interviews with President Mendenhall this week. We found out that our mission is expanding! We are taking over Boulder, and South Parker, but we are not getting any more missionaries, so we are going to be wearing ourselves thin and having to take on extra areas, but everyone is pretty excited. Needless to say, this next transfer is going to be veryyyy interesting.
I think I mentioned last time, but I gave a training in District Meeting. I felt it went really well! I taught about being personable and how we need confidence from God, not ourselves, and how we need to really love the people we talk to and be quick to observe. I went on exchanges with our District Leader this past week, and he said I really did everything that I trained on, so it was good to hear I am doing what I taught everyone to do! I really do love all of the things we do.
Sometimes things happen that make me sad, but there is so much more to rejoice about. We contacted a less active member yesterday. He stopped coming to church because the Stake President offended him in some way. He mentioned to us that he served a mission in New York. I just wish people could hold on to their testimony and not allow small things to change things for them. But then we also had a lesson with another less-active yesterday, who hasn't been active for 25 years, but he knows that the church is true and we talked about repentance and his desire to come back to church. We are hoping we can help him in the process of changing some of his habits. He really is a good guy.
Also, I decided I want to live on a farm... I have helped the Scott family move some hay twice and I love getting to work out there! It is so relaxing for me! How have I lived in Wisconsin almost my whole live and not worked on a farm more!?!? Anyway I love it!
I am going to end there because we are cutting our time short today. We are trying to find a mountain to go hike. I love all of you and can’t express my gratitude for your support. More so, I can’t express my gratitude for my Savior. As Isaiah said, he truly was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities, but I testify to you, that with his stripes WE ARE HEALED!
