The Lord Compensates
This week was most definitely something else. That investigator who had a stroke passed away. In Taiwan their is a tradition of spending 30 days to morn. In these 30 days, you don't answer your phone and you don't leave the house. We are hoping that his wife will contact us afterward.
The Lord always compensates us when bad things happen. It usually isn't immediately, and it may not even be in this life, but he will. D&C 58:2-5 has been a scripture I have relied on for a long time.
2 For verily I say unto you, blessed is he that keepeth my commandments, whether in life or in death; and he that is faithful in tribulation, the reward of the same is greater in the kingdom of heaven.
3 Ye cannot behold with your natural eyes, for the present time, the design of your God concerning those things which shall come hereafter, and the glory which shall follow after much tribulation.
4 For after much tribulation come the blessings. Wherefore the day cometh that ye shall be crowned with much glory; the hour is not yet, but is nigh at hand.
5 Remember this, which I tell you before, that you may lay it to heart, and receive that which is to follow.
Well the Lord blessed us. We found 2 pretty incredible investigators. Im very very excited to teach them, and my favorite part, my favorite investigator, Xuan Xuan, was finally baptized. Im in love with this little girl. I hope that I can love my own daughter as much as I love her haha. I can completely understand while little girls have their dads wrapped around their fingers. This girl melts me every time I am around her. Not only is she adorable, she is also a spiritual rock! She had been trying to read the regular Book of Mormon, but its rough for adults, so for an 8 year old, its really not easy. She was trying her best anyway. Well we got her a Book of Mormon Stories for her birthday a month ago. She has read it cover to cover 8 times now. Her testimony after her baptism was incredible. She stood up there and she said that she wanted to bear her testimony on repentance (what 8 year old wants to talk about that). She then shared how repentance was difficult for her. She shared a story about how a kid was bullying her at school and how she would loose her temper and him. She then shared how she realized that she needed to repent and that not only included not getting and being patient, but that she needed to pray for this kid. She then shared Mosiah 27:24 "For, said he, I have repented of my sins, and have been redeemed of the Lord; behold I am born of the Spirit." I asked her Dad if she had had help, and he told me that she prepared the entire thing, including the scripture, by herself. From the mouth of babes... It honestly put me into check. I realized that I needed to be doing a better job at repentance so that I can say with Alma and Xuan Xuan, that "I have repented of my sins, and have been redeemed of the Lord; behold I am born of the Spirit."
Love you guys!!!
