Whats your gift to Christ?
This week was wonderful! So I read an article in the Liahona about a missionary striving to give a gift to Christ. I thought "hmm that is a really solid idea," so I pondered on what I could actually give. Elder Maxwell once said “The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. It is a hard doctrine, but it is true. The many other things we give to God, however nice that may be of us, are actually things He has already given us, and He has loaned them to us. But when we begin to submit ourselves by letting our wills be swallowed up in God’s will, then we are really giving something to Him.” So I thought, how can I give my will as a gift to Christ. Well I decided to do almost exactly what that Liahona article suggested and and strive to talk to more people. It may come to a shock to most of you, but I dont really like talking to random people on the street, so it has always been hard for me. Well I just decided that thats what God wants me to do, this is going to be my gift. The Grace of God is an amazing, wonderful thing. As I have tried to speak to more people, God has blessed us so much. Its like King Benjamin said, the moment that we try to serve God, he blesses us, and so we will always be indebted to him. Its such awesome doctrine. Even when we try to give back to God, he just loves us so much that he just wants to give us more! :)
So this week, as part of the Light the World event, we went to an orphanage, and gave them a bunch of stuff, and hung out with all of the little kids. I just happened to be the only white person, so they swarmed me. It was sad because at first they were so stand-off-ish, and none of them would tell me their names, but after I started playing with them, they warmed right up. I never wanted to leave. It was easily one of the happiest times on my mission! Just Elder Sproul, playing with like 10 little kids. I was among my own haha :)
Love you guys! I hope this month you guys are doing your best to #LightTheWorld
Love, Elder Sproul
