Elder Porter and I got out of quarantine this Wednesday and we were so excited to not be stuck in the house any longer, we both love to do the work and so we were excited. Although quarantine meant we couldn't go out we were still able to learn alot and talk to alot of people and teach some lessons.
Little backstory, elder Porter and I knocked on Tad R Callisters door because his wife is a reference for out latino outreach initiative, and they are such a great family and very humble people. We had asked him to speak at our district council and he said yes!! Well this week was the week and it was great, he talked about studies and the importance of knowing the scriptures. I liked that he said when we study we should be cross referencing the scriptures because there are so many places where ot says the same things.
This week we were able to do alot of service, we went to a members house and moved pavers down a hill to where they are putting them and it felt so good to be doing some manual labor again. We went to a church owned mill, and tore unused macaroni and cheese boxes because there was a misprint on all of them and they have to be ruined and then thrown out so that was fun and took a while. We also helped a family move an upright piano up 2 flights of stairs and boy let me tell you those things are heavy. Doing service alot feels so good and is a nice addition to the normal missionary day.
So this week we set up a member lesson and they asked us to talk about trials, well turns out my former comp gave us the wrong number for the family and he gave us a number to a family with the same name in California, so that lesson didn't happen. The lord showed us a way though, we felt prompted to visit another family in our ward, and their newley wedded daughter and her husband were there as well. We shared the lesson we had prepared about trials and they said it was exactly what they needed to hear and some of the scriptures we shared will help them alot. It is crazy how the lord prepared a way for elder porter and I to visit this family and shared exactly what they needed to hear.
This pday was beyond hectic, we got up early played basketball, then went directly to the mission office to get covid booster shots and new camera things in our cars and we were there for probably 2-3 hours. We then came home showered super fast took some other elders shopping, and then we were running our district activity so we had to rush to that. We played poker so that was fun. We then had to go to the mission office again to get some paperwork stuff sorted out, at least my Visa application is submitted now. And then we went shopping at a few stores and I got some new pants. We then had an english class to teach it went great. Yeah it was a busy day.
Spiritual Thought this week comes from the old testament, Joshua 1:9 "Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." The lord has commanded us to be strong and courageous in our lives, especially when were are facing our hard times. He loves to see his children pushing forward through the hard times so that he can build us up in the end and strengthen us. As we push through these trials he will always be right beside us helping us along and providing a way to overcome them as long as we stay true to our faith and follow him in the gospel.
